DODGERS GET ROKI SASAKI!
And they get him for minimum salary for three years due to his age, and have control for 6 years

Re: I know .. should be in OT .. BUT
I wonder how much more they will kick the can down the road. I think we're going to see about 50 Bobby Bonilla days in the next 10 years w all these deferred contracts.
The way I see what they are doing now, with these deferred/delayed contract payouts... its almost like a reverse mortgage where these banks get seniors to take equity out of their homes, so they can get a check every month.
Def a necessity from some people, as they didnt save up or lost their retirements... and that is the only option. But if you can survive just fine and able to pay bills... then you are only taking more out of your kids inheritance (which if you dont like your kids, that is understandable 8-) .
I mean, just look at these contracts (link below). The Dodgers have literally mortgaged their future for years and years to come.
So I guess the plan is to build a super team, win as many chips as possible to break even every year, then just build value of the team and sell it while also offsetting the remaining contract's in the sale, one day?

Take a look at this extension list. Holy Moly.

Must be a good to be a dodgers fan... but you have to worry about your kids who are dodgers fans. Someday... these cheeks will need to be cashed.
Top 7 contracts amount to $2,012,000,000. DOUBLE Holy Moly. (and this does not even include Sasak yet)

This one isn't deferred. He is under 25 so by the rules of the posting of international players, he can only be paid minimum for 3 years and then is under control for 3 more yearsDelMar wrote: ↑January 18th, 2025, 9:09 am I wonder how much more they will kick the can down the road. Technically I would guess he's banking on doing so well that they negotiate a good deal for him after the first three years, otherwise he gets screwed by not being free agent eligible until his year 31 season

I guess the point of the rules are to ensure that Japanese or other leagues keep their talent until they are a little older

Ok. Remove Sasak being in rookie type contract… my point is still the same. Dodgers as a whole and these deferred contractsGoldenRam wrote: ↑January 18th, 2025, 2:04 pmThis one isn't deferred. There are good ball clubs, great ball clubs, elite clubs and then there’s the Dodgers… and it’s not even close.
Crazy how a team wins the WS, yet gets ever better the next year.

Re: I know .. should be in OT .. BUT
I do believe MLB has to do something about the inequality of the teams due to the finances. But there is no excuse for some of these these teams to take the revenue share money and now spend a dime.
Dodgers pitching staff is insane
