Cut Down Date

Post by GlendoraRam »

This year’s cut down date is August 26. All NFL rosters must be cut down to 53 players. WMost of us have a pretty good idea what Rams players will make the final 53 man roster.

There are always surprises not only for the Rams, but for the entire league.

Anyone on the Rams that you think will be a surprise cut?
For me, I think Reeder is cut.
Thoughts?

I am concerned about Parkinson, although I am not sure about the cap implications. I would like to see him get another shot.

That would be rather shocking. Yeah… I would be surprised.
But, roster spots are valuable and anything is possible.

To many white wine spritzers. Just trying to get a buzz going on the forum. :) But with that said. Bennett plays lights out. Looks like the second coming of Joe Montana. Staffords wife starts to undermine Bennett. Staffords back miraculously heals, however he slips and is out for first three reg season games. Bennett gets the nod. No looking back. Jimmy is moved to make room for other position needs.

Yep. This might be the deepest team I've ever seen. I'm sure other teams will have an eye on our cuts.

Or Davis Allen. Do we really kep 4 TE's? Since we are so deep at so many positions I was wondering about trades. Maybe we get a 7th rounder for somebody at an impacted position. I hope it's not Parkinson because I like him but that's one example. Otherwise I expect to get poached pretty hard on Aug 26th.

I think they have to plan for life after Higbee. For the post part, the other three are unproven. Needless to say, Ferguson makes it but the next spot should go to the better blocker (in my opinion).

Such a Deep squad. What a problem to have. The WRs and RBs will be a tough way for us. I was watching how Stoops was blocking a getting separation yesterday and how well Schrader ran the ball thinking these two wouldn’t clear waivers. These are the bottom guys wow.

Exactly. As I said in another post, this is probably the deepest team I've ever seen. We could keep 6 WR's 3 RB's and use Shrader at a KR/RB4.

Does Britain Covey make the squad ? I believe he was brought in to return kicks. Another tough one.

I don’t see him being cut. I’d say practice squad.

Thats exactly where I see him ending up... but imo, hes above practice squad but below making the team... so maybe he gets picked up by another team because of this. There is always another team desperate for some of these players that get cut

I remember back to 2016 and Nelson Spruce. Remember him, He DAZZLED in our FIRST game back in LA, it was that pre season night game against Dallas, I mean he just shined... then in that game, he got that knee injury on the game winning drive. Although he did make the final cut, he never saw the field because he was placed on the inactive list. Then, the poor guy got hurt again in his leg at practice when he did come back (if I remember correctly), and never played a single snap during the regular season... then he was placed on IR, then was cut in 2017. Then that guy become the ultimate journeyman ...

Los Angeles Rams (2016)
Chicago Bears (2017)*
Kansas City Chiefs (2018)*
Los Angeles Chargers (2018)*
San Diego Fleet (2019)
Los Angeles Wildcats (2020)
Montreal Alouettes (2021)*

* Offseason and/or practice squad member only

Now the guy is a VP for some fitness company...

YES! I do. He was GREAT. I have forgotten why he got cut... just not as good as our top 7 WR's or did he get hurt like Spruce? I remember he did get waived, then we signed him back and he made the 53 man roster, then we cut him again... I just cant remember why we let him loose... do you remember?

McCutcheon signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted free agent on May 5, 2022. He was waived by the team on May 17, 2022. McCutcheon was re-signed by the Rams two days later.

On August 28, 2023, McCutcheon was waived by the Rams as part of final roster cuts.

He has been with the Texans, Jets, and now Steelers

Interesting that Pittsburgh has Lance McCutcheon, Ben Skowronek, and Robert Woods.

Or maybe not that interesting.

Dont forget, they also have Jalen Ramsey, too.

basically the Steelers is the Rams B team is how I look at it, with a grumpy old 'get off my lawn' QB to boot. They could be a hoot to watch this season.

I thought McVay loved Skowronek as much as Reeder. I’m surprised he didn’t end up being a Rams lifer.

Good question. Covey played a lot so he's definitely fighting for a spot. Maybe he's the KR/PR and we keep 6WR. Pressley, Stoops, Mario Williams, Edwards, might take 2 more spots on the PS. If there's an injury Stoops might squeak onto the 53. They always seem to have an Austin Trammell/JJ Koski/Landon Akers hovering around the 53.
