Why

It's not his fault the GM gave him a rookie kicker that makes the league minimum. You get what you pay for in some instances.

Apparently the Rams brass believed they wouldn't need good kicker because the Rams offense would always convert on third downs..... well that's the only reason I can think of why the Rams brass would think they could get away with an unproven kicker.

I cant argue with the blocking.... Like I said somewhere else on here.... Maybe consider backing up the place holder an additional yard or two so the ball has more height at the line of scrimmage. The ball looks like its barely six feet off the grass in some cases.

So you understand the blocking is SHIT and defenders are in KArty's face all the time , YET you keep blaming HIM . Very coherent .

Blocking is usually never great on Special Teams. The point of emphasis is to contain the outside rush. Most NFL Special Teams players are typically players that barely make the final cuts.

It's the kickers responsibility to get the ball at least 8-10 feet high at the line of scrimmage so that it clears the hands of a 6-5 rusher.... Especially on a damn extra point..... or field goal attempts of 50 yards and closer.

Our field goal kicker in college when he kicked extra points or field goals from 45 yards or closer, there was no way the ball was getting blocked at the line of scrimmage because it was so high that Michael Jordan wouldn't be able to touch it. Even our high school kicker never got his kicks blocked at the center of the line of scrimmage.

I don’t know what the hell you have been watching but simply not true. Kicking, both PAT n FG has become about as automatic as it’s ever been in the history of the NFL. These players who are blocking on these kicks made the team for the sole purpose to play ST n play it well. That is why they have a job. So to say “they barely make the team” makes one to believe these players can’t play which is the farthest from the truth. The accurate statement is the Rams FG n PAT blocking has been notorious period……..

All the blocked kicks are occurring at the line of scrimmage and at the closest 5 yards from the ball placement. The extra point when blocked during the 49ers game, was at the blockers shoulder pads. He didn't even have to raise his hands over his helmet to block it.

Maybe they consider that a good kick attempt in pop-warner football, (I take that back you go for two point conversions at that level).

Stop unless you want to continue looking like a bleep. Very few if anyone has agreed with you on this subject……..

I'm not saying the blocking is great either, but most of those kicks should have made it though without being touched if the kicker would have put more height on his kicks. I get it some kickers have to drive the ball lower on longer field goals, but most of his kicks are being driven in the path of the defenders helmet at the line of scrimmage which is too low.

Nobody agrees with you. STFU . All kicks that were blocked allowed the defenders to get insane penetration through the middle. They were only about a foot away from the kicker. Even if the kicker had sent the ball high into the air, it probably still would have been blocked.

No on the 12 inches (1foot).... Maybe you meant different unit of measure.... I checked all the videos as there are many debates as to why the Rams kicker attempts are being blocked and the opinions are split.

The closet was 5 yards (180 inches) (15 feet) on the PAT attempt during the 49ers game. The blocked kicks during the Eagles game were blocked 7 yards from the place holder.

There was some discussion that his field goal attempts could be affected by how he is approaching kickoffs. They were saying Last season he was drilling kickoffs in the endzone and the approach is similar to kicking a field goal. This season he's focused on placing kick offs to land inside the 20 yard line and requires a different technique from kicking a field goal.

Now I'm not a kicker, I was a tight end in high school and college, so I'm just relaying information.... so stay calm.

There may be some truth to that.. I love the kick offs but not at the expense of FG’s

I mean- this guy is getting paid millions to do 2 things. Kickoffs and FGs. If he cannot separate his squib from his FG, that's a problem. Sounds stupid to me and not a real reason. That's like saying a golfer cant hit a PW because he is swinging differently on his drives.

I still blame ST coach- who last I checked was still here (amazing). Teams now smell blood and will go after each kick. Shitty protection must be addressed.
