Re: Hey NorCal ...
I’m in SF, and I like the SF Standard. They had a pretty good summary yesterday about the guaranteed 2026 money being voided, his missed meetings, unfulfilled contractual obligations…

Unfortunately, this will free up a lot of money for the niners to start rebuilding .

Re: Hey NorCal ...
I’ll start by saying I’ve been here since 85 and have never heard of the S.F. Standard……..
I’m certainly not going to debate the athletic. Obviously everyone knows Silver and the other writer mentioned has made a name for herself……..
I will say again Shanahan was the one who insisted on resigning Auyik and giving him that contract per the ones in the know here. Lynch n others were not so hot on the idea………
I also know it was reported at the beginning of this year that Shanahan was told he wasn’t going to have a say on future extensions……..
The sense here was Auikyk was never coming back this year. You got a sense that neither party was interested. I guess now it has been confirmed……..
JMO I don’t think we have heard the last of them just agreeing n now they don’t have to pay him or this decision won’t have an effect on their cap. IMO others in the league are going to look closer at this……

Re: Hey NorCal ...
First of all, I don't know how SF can just void $27 mil and get out of his guaranteed money. For missing meetings? I'm sure the NFL and the NFLPA will have a say in that but apparently Aiyuk is not going to fight it. How dumb is this guy? He had a career threatening injury 7 games into his new contract and will never see money like this again. Yeah, he should have been rehabbing at the facility and going to meetings every day which is what a Ram player would do. If he gets cut by SF he's looking at a 1 year prove it deal so this was an idiotic move. And no, the Rams won't touch him.

I agree I don’t know how they can get away with this n like I said I don’t think this is over yet in how the niners want to end it…….49RH8R wrote: ↑November 23rd, 2025, 6:56 am First of all, I don't know how SF can just void $27 mil and get out of his guaranteed money. And I agree Aiyuk can’t be this stupid…….

Re: Hey NorCal ...
Tim Kawakami’s been writing for The Standard. Here’s his newest take on the Aiyuk situation: https://sfstandard.com/2025/11/23/brand ... p-options/
My take—
There’s just so much baggage in Aiyuk’s history. He struggled a lot adjusting from college to the pros his first couple of seasons. Covid interruptions caused part of that. Then things kicked in. Then he complained about his lack of use in the superbowl. He later held out for a big contract, missed lots of time with the team, became even more disconnected and weird, suffered a major injury, became more disconnected and weird, blew off rehab and meetings, repeating a destructive cycle. I think that the rehab neglect will get SF out of the ‘26 money. But maybe not, and things will get weirder.
He’ll be a Steeler or Commander next year.
