Does everyone realize Shelton is a top 10 center? Not sure where the criticism is stemming from. He’s very solid and plays smart - he’s intuitive, athletic and plays with purpose. The coaches and teammates love him - he’s gotten two game balls already! So no, I don’t think he’s a weak link or an issue. I think it’s people not fully grasping the nuances of this complicated position on the line that clamor for change. Shelton is here for a while
JMO Shelton sucks. Eyes dont lie on Sundays. They never should have brought him back. A big over reaction to the Philly playoff game. Ask yourself why did they let him go the first time. Because they didn’t want to pay him the $3.4m the Bears game him? Oh ok. He won’t be back next year IMO. Rams save $3m if they cut him. Rams need to improve the position…………..
Most know how I feel in here about PFF grades. Stafford likes him yes which yes has merit. But it is mostly a comfort thing with him. My bet is he can get comfortable with someone also who improves the position……………

Shelton can run block but he can't pass block. This was already debated and I posted his pff grades. There is actually a thread about this.
Yup- and Limmer can also run block, but can't pass block for shit. Would be nice to land a guy who can do both. We have now tried Avila, Jackson, Shelton, Limmer all at C. Nobody has been a lock and a career Ram C. Limmer seemed it until he didn't...and boy he doesn't right now. Back to the draft board.
Exactly. Same goes for Limmer , can run block but can't pass block for shit .

Was there ever a Beau Limmer "career with the Rams?" He's never been good—most overrated guy on this board.
People who think he's any good are also fans of Reeder.

Yes- at one point he was one of the top rated (maybe THE top) rookie linemen last year. Got high praise from lot of people for his play on the field. Also- was pretty impossible to be overrated last year. He was an unknown. Big expectations THIS year have fallen apart. All started with that last series in Philly. Never got past it. But I don't think anyone is overrating this guy.

“ He's never been good”
Well I’m not sure what team you watched last year then………
He only as a rookie replaced 3 starters at various times last year and by all accounts did well. Many last year credited the Rams ability to win the division n get to the playoffs in part because of his play. Again because of a few missed assignments in the last Philly game last year he was demoted to a back up role which was why he was drafted in the first place.
This board here last year was rather pleased with his play until that last game. Question can certainly be asked is he that much worse than Shelton……….

Shelton isn't starting just bc he might or might not be a better blocker than Limmer. Its also bc he is better at line calls. Rams center, diagnose the defense and calls out the line blocking assignments.
Let's not forget Limmer line call had Dotson blocking grass on those game losing plays last year vs the Eagles.

He was blocking air himself too on that last play against Philly. His line calls are horrible — he was also blocking air on some of those blocked kicks this season. Maybe he wasn’t the one calling the assignments on special teams, but one thing’s for sure: the kid doesn’t seem very smart. Shelton can't pass block for shit , people bulldoze him all the time, BUT , you don't see him or anybody else blocking AIR ( Bobby Evans style ) when he is calling the assignments.

Haha- yeah. I don't actually believe it though. Just trying to make a stupid joke. Smart football IQ does not equal smart general IQ and vice versa.

In 2024:
Beaux had a PFF grade of 55.5 last year. As we all saw, his pass protection was much worse than his run protection. This year he has a rating of 0.0 (not a typo) in pass protection and 82.3 on the run.
Let’s compare:
Remember- 80 and above is considered good to great.
Alaric Jackson: a career-high 78.4 overall PFF grade in 2024 (18th among all offensive tackles in 2024.)
Kevin Dotson: Ranked as the fourth-best guard in 2024 by PFF with a 78.1 overall grade.
Steve Avila: Had a 76.0 overall PFF grade in 2024.
The lowly Dedich was 56.7 - better than Beaux.
But let’s throw out PFF when it doesn’t fit our agenda.

For some of us the PFF grades apply when they are good or bad. Not when they “fit an agenda”…….
Why have they become the bible of if a player has played well or not………..

I honestly think Brasil, if we take home the chip this season… Stafford retires.
I imagine he wants to go out like his close pal, Clayton Kershaw did last night.

Staff has been exceptional vs the blitz and against any pass rush. Getting the ball out fast.

This is true of any QB in that he can make OL grades/efforts subjective- PFF grades cannot be completely taken on their own merits due to the overlay from one position to another ( EG: QB function / OL function). You must trust and give weight to what your own eyes see as part of the whole equation.

Yeah he’s a bargain. A late round pick who can play all three interior o line positions with lots of game experience. You keep those.
Limmer isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
