Having the option, to either enter the 2026 NFL Draft, or stay in school in his Senior year, can only help us I'm figuring.
Say a Cleveland Browns, or Carolina Panthers "earns" the #1 pick, Arch says, "I'm not playing for y'all, but if you trade your pick to the Los Angeles Rams who I absolutely WILL play for, you can have TWO 2026 1st Round picks and MORE.
Or, I can stay in school and you get nothing.
I LOVE the way this shapes up for us.
let's see how he plays this year before we crown him #1 overall next year. I do agree with you the Manning family will be involved with his destination team and I have a hard time believing his family will allow him to go to Cleveland. Carolina is a mess too so who knows.

Cleveland and Carolina were simply "examples," the point of the post was Arch's power (if he so chooses) to let it be known, trade me for a BAG to the Rams, or ill stay my Senior year at Texas.
Many variables and permutations to this equation.
Point remains. His ambiguity and flexibility to stay in school, helps US. (IMHO)
the 2 teams you named are definitely some of the favorites to have a horrible yr so it isn't out of the possibility. Arch is already making millions so yes he could stay in school

Well, the Manning family wouldn't let Eli go to SD, so they've proven they have the know-how.

There are other potentially top notch QB’s in this next draft class not named Manning. I’ll leave it at that but will continue to remind………..

I don’t know what it says that Texas played Ewers ahead of him most of the year and Ewers went in the 7th rd.

mannings tend to stay in school, Arch is scheduled to make over 6.5 million in the NIL next year
I would be surprised if he goes into the draft unless he wins a championship and is the clear overall number one

All I have to say is, I cannot remember a time where I have rooted against the Falcons this much. Honestly, I plan on watching them closely this year and hope they lose every stinking game.
GO RAMS and to hell w the Falcons I say!

Agree... better options out there next year...
His name will be the only reason he goes #1
Ofcourse he could have an amazing year and i eat my shoe.

This kid has not even played a season yet. Why are we assuming he's so great? Gimmie a break. Let's discuss next year after we see what shakes out.

Yeah, Exactly probably wise to see if the kid can play first .
He is not going to Cleveland, no way.

Understood. Manning is potentially THE prize but far from the ONLY prize. Our timing and Draft Capital are lining up perfectly. We've seen 3rd taken Quarterbacks in the 1st round in the last 20 years be the likes of Philip Rivers, Josh Allen and Justim Herbert. Let alone 5th taken Lamar Jackson.
Our timing and draft capital give us a "chance". Like many other threads have mentioned, there's upwards of 6 bad teams who may strike at a new franchise QB. If they all want one, our 2 picks don't do anything.
Need a draft class like 24 where there were 6-7 legit prospects.

Our picks (16 Falcons + 32 Rams) along with either a 2nd Rounder and/or 2027 1st should be good enough to net us a Top 5 pick and one of the top Quarterbacks.
let's hope we don't have to use that much draft capital

What if the team with say the #4 overall pick next year doesn't desire to acquire a starting QB in the NFL draft? That leaves it open to trading its selection to the Rams, doesn't it?
Our team doesn't need to be able to trade up to #1 to obtain a projected franchise QB in 2026, not based on the predicted talent at that position...

You mean the Arch Manning who could not even win the starting job now at U T?
Don’t believe the hype. Guy has proved nothing warranting 2 1st round picks.

The hype doesn't look too bad early. He did play somewhat as a freshman. 9 td / 2 int, and did beat Miss St while throwing for 325 yards. 6'4 225 lbs. I think the hype is probable real. I'll buy into him as much as the other prospects.

Yeah, I get that Arch is the nephew of the Eli and Peyton and part of the great Manning legacy but he has hardly played. Can he at least play 1 season before calling him the #1 overall pick a year in advance? The hype is already annoying. Just imagine how much we're going to hear about it leading up to the 2026 draft.

It doesn't hurt that McVay and Sarkisian are friends and talk ball a lot. I’m sure he will have the inside track on Arch, his development and limitations.

And if Arch isn’t the guy there will be other high end prospects for next year. It doesn’t have to be Arch.

If we are having a good to great season we can always dangle that 1st Rounder for available talent. I'm still against that. I want those 2 1st Rounders for next Franchise Quarterback NEXT Draft, even if Stafford is killin it.
unless he gets really hurt this yr Stafford is here for the next 2 yrs. Maybe we keep rebuilding other parts of the teams and don't go QB next yr?

Just some prospective if we trade to get another vet QB (Stafford part 2).... This is what it looked like last time... (now that this whole thing has played out, the Lions seriously capitalized on this trade, BUT... we got a chip out of it)
Rams got:
QB Matthew Stafford
Lions got:
QB Jared Goff
2021 third-round pick (101 overall)
2022 first-round pick
2023 first-round pick
Now, let’s dive into what the Lions got for those draft picks:
2021 third-round pick
The Lions did not use this pick in a trade. They simply added DB Ifeatu Melifonwu.
2022 first-round pick (32nd overall)
The Lions packaged this pick with Picks 34 and 66 in a deal with the Vikings for the 12th overall pick and the 46th overall pick. Picks 12 and 46 were used on WR Jameson Williams and DL Josh Paschal, respectively.
2023 first-round pick (sixth overall)
The Lions traded back to the 12th overall pick and got Picks 34 (second round) and 168 (fifth round) in return. They also sent Pick 81 away in this trade.
12th pick:
The Lions used this pick to select RB Jahmyr Gibbs.
34th pick
The Lions used this pick to select TE Sam LaPorta.
168th pick
The Lions packaged this pick with 122 (fourth round) and 139 (fifth round) to trade up to the third round (Pick 96) and select DT Brodric Martin.
Total net trades
Let’s package all of these trades together and see what the Lions got, and what they lost:
Lions lost:
QB Matthew Stafford
2022 34th overall pick (second round)
2022 66th overall pick (third round)
2023 81st overall pick (third round)
2023 122nd overall pick (fourth round)
2023 139th overall pick (fifth round)
Lions gained:
QB Jared Goff
WR Jameson Williams (first round, 12th overall)
RB Jahmyr Gibbs (first round, 12th overall)
TE Sam LaPorta (second round, 34th overall)
DL Josh Paschal (second round, 46th overall)
DT Brodric Martin (third round, 96th overall)
DB Ifeatu Melifonwu (third round, 101st overall)
Or, simplified:
Lions lost:
Matthew Stafford
1 second-round pick
2 third-round picks
1 fourth-round pick
1 fifth-round pick
Lions gained:
Jared Goff
2 first-round picks
2 second-round picks
2 third-round picks

win win for both teams but what a great job the Lions did with those draft picks. Holmes killed it

Gotta believe it will be situational. If one falls in their lap, or obtainable with minimal draft capital, they'd be making a big mistake not grabbing one. However.....I would not be in favor of three 1s + to get one.

I just hope too they don't trade both 1's for a QB. best case if ATL shits the bed this year and they have a top 5-10 pick
