So things have settled down post draft. But the Rams have still not addressed QB of the future. As of now Rams did not pick up an additional QB. So depth is Matthew, Jimmy, and Bennett.

Does Bennett make the team or do you see a change in preseason play. Especially if Bennett under performs?

I posted in another thread that I really think the Rams need his roster spot this year. They might be tempted to carry 4 TE's and/or 4 RB's. Also, look at ILB with Paul and maybe Dolac. If we trade for Ramsey CB is another crowded position group.

IMO there is a bullseye on his roster spot especially if they don't see him as the successor to Stafford. It would make things extremely interesting if he balls out in preseason and they don't think he'll make it to the PS. Nobody is even considering that.

Bennett is not the future of this team. Rams will more than likely draft a QB next yr and IMO Bennett will be gone.

Bennett future is a capable backup, that knows the system. Soon Stafford will retire, and the Rams will draft his replacement.

QB depth chart will be Rookie/FutureFranchise QB, JG and Bennett. A year later JG will move on and it will be future franchise qb and Bennett.

Bennett is going no where this year IMO. I think they may bring in a camp arm but that is it. He will get every snap in preseason which will be huge for him. He needs to be the best player on the field in preseason or there will be no next year for him IMO.

Carrying 4 TE's is folly. If we need to carry 6, then they are ALL essentially trash and we are trying to man it with quantity over quality. If they are all that unessential, drop ALL of them and find someone else

Same with RB .. make a call, Williams, Corum and our draft guy, or Corum OR the draft guy, pick one other back and go with it. Stop wasting spots on marginal players that just take up space

Agreed! The Rams need to settle on three TEs and three RBs for their active roster, I would much rather have a third QB (presumably Stetson Bennett this year) activated on game days than a fourth TE and/or fourth RB.

Our team recently spent draft capital on a receiving TE and a breakway-threat RB, I'm hoping to see these guys contributing during the season, not primarily sitting on the bench because their position is overloaded... :? ;) :idea:

100% agree. We will at least have something to watch during preseason. Either extreme wouldnt surprise me with this guy.

So you are calling Bennett a sure thing and a roster lock for the final 53?

for sure will be there this year. but if they draft a QB next year Bennett will be cut

Not so sure. Will Stafford be a ram next year? Will JG be a ram next year. If both answers are Yes and the rams use a high pick on a qb, then Bennett is gone. But if one of the answers are No, then Bennett could be a ram next year too.

maybe but I think JG comes back. the backup has to have exp and Bennett does not

Rams need to look for the next Kurt Warner off a practice squad to replace Bennett as #3.

Yes I agree with this... McVay has put a lot into Bennett and stood by him... he must see something.. But this is going to be his prove it year.

Also, there is no one to challenge for the 3rd QB spot on the roster (yet!!)
