As we evaluate the Rams’ defensive strengths and weaknesses, the consensus seems to be that the Rams’ weak link on defense is the cornerback group. In the NFL, every defensive position demands a unique blend of physical prowess, mental acuity, and technical skill. From stopping a 4.3, 230-pound running back to outsmarting a cerebral quarterback, defenders face immense challenges. But which defensive position is the most difficult to play?

Without reading the article (I will), I have to vote for either CB or LB (the one that wears the ear piece). I think CB is the more challenging only because you rarely see a 1st-2nd year CB being hugely successful. I do see 1st year LBs that are very successful. I know it happens, but even the highest drafted CBs struggle until they settle in the position. Mostly due to the physical nature and speed of the game. They have to cover and tackle.. Just my opinion....my guess is you leaned toward LB. Now I will go see what that master says! ;-)

CB gets my vote. You're on an island, one on one, back to the ball, being reactive rather than proactive.
Offensively RB is tough unless you are one of those rare breed types like Jim Brown, Earl Campbell, Barry Sanders, Gale Sayers, and the like.
You start several yards from the LOS and for most, dependent upon the line to create SOME semblance of space for you to get through. If they don't, you have very little success, unless you have the power to create your own hole, the elusiveness to make people miss to get yourself in space, or the explosive speed to just burst past defenders before they can react properly.
There generally aren't a lot of those guys around in particular season.
Right now, you have Barkley, Henry, who also have good O lines blocking for them and Gibbs in Detroit who is just a blink. Most of the rest are good, but not special. Imagine a prime TG or ED in the Rams current offense.
MO anyway

CB is the toughest by far. Not only do you have to have the physical attributes, you have to be smart and recognize routes by the receivers. And you gotta have a short memory. Sooner or later you're gonna get burned no matter how good you are. You gotta forget that and learn from it.
