Free agent offensive tackle D.J. Humphries agreed to terms with the 49ers on April 29 but never signed. His representation, AMDG Sports, announced on social media Thursday that Humphries is signing with the Rams.
The Rams have Alaric Jackson as their starting left tackle and Rob Havenstein at right tackle.
Humphries signed with the Chiefs on Nov. 23, 2024, after recovering from a torn ACL late in the 2023 season. The Chiefs anticipated Humphries taking over at left tackle, but in his first game, which came in Week 14, he injured his hamstring.
Humphries returned in Week 18 to play 32 snaps, but he played no offensive snaps in the postseason as Joe Thuney moved from guard to left tackle. Humphries, 31, did play nine special teams snaps in the team’s first two postseason games. He did not get on the field in the Super Bowl.
The Cardinals made Humphries a first-round pick in 2015, and he made the Pro Bowl in 2021. He started 98 games in his nine seasons in Arizona.

Seems possibly better than Quessenberry.

Seems possibly better than Quessenberry if the injury is better.

This guy strikes me as having been rather injury-prone recently, however our team does need an adequate backup at OT... :? ;) :geek:

Not bad, not bad at all. Have a injury past but that's fine bc if he didn't he wouldn't be available, he would be starting somewhere. Solid starter when healthy and should make a good backup swing tackle.
Was supposed to sign with the niners a few weeks ago, not sure what happened.

this is exactly what they needed to do, Humphries has not always been consistent, but is capable of stepping in at either side, now let's go get a corner back

From niners noise forum-
Humphries' agency prematurely passed along to a national reporter he had signed with the 49ers, then posted on social media to practically confirm the move. The 49ers not following suit was odd, but up to a point it could have been a matter of contract semantics. Sounds like someone made a big error?

Not good news!
Jackson dealt with blood clots in 2022, causing him to miss nine games that year. He’s played 29 games in the last two seasons and established himself as the Rams’ best option at left tackle, becoming one of the best young players at his position.
They don't give details for example where clots are or why (genetic flaw?) But not good. I would presume being on blood thinners in NFL would be contraindicated. That's why Humphries is on Rams, not so much to add depth but to replace Jackson.

Terrible 'unlucky' news on Friday the 13th, this explains why the Rams have been scrambling to sign even injury-prone or mediocre OTs.
Training camp is still well over a month away from starting, yet already our team is experiencing potentially serious O-line issues, not good at all... :? :x :|
