Ayton ..

Post by GoldenRam »

Well, at least he's more skilled and a better rebounder than Hayes .. motivation is the guys problem .. he's a lot like Bynum, plays because he's big and could make some bank .. but doesn't appear to really WANT to play

Nor am I, but his skillset is better than Hayes, which granted is not saying much. Also, if a team with Luka and LeBron can't motivate is his ass, his next contract offers are going to be vet minimum deals. This is essentially a contract year for him, so the possibility is, he plays like am actual basketball center, and we sell high and watch him crash back to earth after some sucker gives him a big deal. His money, LeBrons money, Bronny's money come off the books for 26/27 year, helping our cap. And if we decide we don't want to pay, AR comes off as well, and possibly Rui, as well as any 1 year vet min deals. Leaving mucho money but bare shelves for Luka, who would ALREADY have signed his extension. MEOW .. things could get a little catty then

at the end of the day GR it doesn't mean anything because this team does not have the depth. they will be mediocre for the next 5 yrs

True .. but that's what happens when you've got $50 million dollar contracts all over .. spend all the money on the prime rib .. nothing left for side dishes

They are truly hosed until Lebron is completely off their books and they actually get some very high draft picks

They've traded every 1st they can through 2031 or 32 iir .. and any picks they do have, as far as now, are going to be mid tier at best .. not really finding many franchise changers at that level .. Between the AD and Russ trades, trying to keep LeBron happy, their draft picks have evaporated. The only way to get many back is trade Luka. IF AR had a solid 20+ year through the deadline, you MIGHT get ONE first for him in a deal, but has to be at the deadline, since he's a FA in the offseason and is looking for a payday, probably his ONE shot at the brass ring. Potentially 5/$246 million from the Lakes .. or $183 million from another team. That's why he turned down an extension offer this offseason.

I've stated elsewhere .. I'm fine with LeBron leaving and Luka going as well. Otherwise, pretty much mediocrity for years, as you stated. No picks, Luka 50 mil a season, AR potentially 40+, there's the lions share of your cap, again, in just 2 players. No decent bigs, no depth, scraping around the vet min barrel to fill out the roster. Other than Knecht, and let's face it, jury is still out on him, you'd have Luka AR Rui and not a whole hell of a lot else. I like LaRavia some, but he's not exactly a needle pusher. Roster has been SO mismanaged for years. Could be worse though, We could still have AD coming off retina injury at 62 million a season at the end of HIS contract. Think about that. CAP is what 190+ million and we could have had $112 of it in an off injured PF and a 40 year old.
