July 22 was the first report on Stafford back issue. Why are we hearing about this over the summer ? What did he do to cause this? I heard nothing last season, OTAs of summer break.

To me this is weird that all of a sudden he has a back injury.

This is the tricky part about back issues. Once you have damage, it can flare up anytime.
He has had broken bones in his back, a spinal cord contusion, and has taken a pounding over his career - especially with the Lions.
We will see how he does tomorrow with his scheduled workout then wait to see if he is practicing next week. If he doesn’t, I expect him to go on IR.

FWIW : I have had a long personal back injury history & it can be ( and this was reiterated by several medical professionals who treated me ) a very difficult injury to diagnose, treat and manage from an activity & pain management perspective. Certain MS is getting the best state of the art treatment available, that he is a tough human being and will give it all he has got - but would not be surprised if this condition ends his playing career. It can be that debilitating. Hoping the best for him .

Disc injuries, personal experience, can be like a light switch. One day you are fine, next day pain and parathesia (numbness). So I don't think there was a covert cover up by team.

I hear you just weird because his back was not an issue throughout last season.

I know I’ve spoken a lot on this on here, but I do get it. When back issues occurs, it’s literally life changing. I hurt mine in college football and have never been the same since, after a couple surgeries, it just stinks. My issue is different from Matt’s, but I’ve also had Matt’s issue as well. Below is the image(s) of my back (back and side angle). It truly sucks and even worse when you small kids you want to hold and play with.

To me, Matt’s issue just doesn’t come up over ngt, I truly believe Matt is going on I.R. But damn, I sure hope im wrong and I have to pay bulldawg on the bet. So, All eyes on Matt tomorrow.

But when the back goes, life changes. It suck guys. I think I also hurt it doing ‘some calisthenics’ w Bulldawgs mom too, that’s didn’t help! But thank goodness she made me some delicious sandwich’s after the workouts 😎

Did that hurt? Nice pedicle screws. One thing to understand is that you are fused L5-S1. But now you can fail at L4-L5. I slept at A Holiday Inn Express.

That is a wimpy x-ray. Look what your mom did to my neck! I had to have surgery in Dec. I’m just glad I didn’t suffocate.

I think it’s just the tip of the iceberg… imo.

I’ll be honest I will take a healthy Stetson BENNETT or JG over an injured and immobile MATT Stafford, especially early in the year ,if we can get him back mid year 100% healthy I say great if not, I think we’ve seen the last of Matt Stafford..
