Rams Linebacker Competition Intensifies as Preseason Winds Down: Rookies Shine, Veteran on the Bubble

As the Rams begin to get their roster set for opening day, one of the most interesting battles on the roster is at inside linebacker. With a mix of young talent, free-agent additions, and rising rookies, the position group has been a focal point of training camp and preseason games. Coach Sean McVay has emphasized competition across the board, and nowhere is that more evident than in the middle of the defense.
The Rams’ linebacker corps underwent significant changes this offseason. After trading away Ernest Jones last year, the team looked to bolster the position through free agency, the draft, and undrafted signings. Now, as roster cuts loom, the pecking order is starting to take shape—but not without some surprises and tough decisions ahead.

Great read...Thanks for posting
I am not a fan of Reader and groaned when the brought him back. Not personal, he's just limited....the Rooks are showing up, and I love it. Reeder is not a bad dude but neither am I and neither of us should be lining up on Sundays....just sayin

I’m grateful to Reeder for stepping up early in his career and for the superbowl win, but in the present, how much would he really contribute in terms of leadership, defense, and special teams? It would be a shame to slow down Paul and Dolac’s growth as Rams. The team seemed better without him than without him last year.
Any love for Fields or Neal? They look pretty good too this preseason.

Again, this ILB crew lost the Eagles playoff game for us and the 1st regular season game.
The ILB should be a totally open competition between Paul, Dolac, Landman, and Omar -who played like shit against the Eagles in the playoffs.
Bye bye Troy Reader!

I like our LB corps more than I have in a long time. Hopefully they will play up to their potential. One red flag I have is out of the top 4 two will be rookies and 1 will be a 2nd year guy...
If Reeder is cut it's only a 1 million Cap hit. Really not a big deal all considering...

Reeder has never impressed. Unless he is doing something outstanding in practice I just can't see how he makes the team.
Dolac has been a beast and will never make it to the practice squad. Sure, he is a little small but he is a tackling machine and is always around the ball. I remember how much of a blow it was when we lost London Fletcher only to watch him go to Washington and continue to play well.
We need an infusion of young talent. Dolac has to stay on the roster. Since Reeder has been sitting all preseason I'm thinking maybe we start the season with 5 MLB and cut another position like the D line.

Yeah, well, Troy Reeder has no spot on this team. None of the rookies will last on the P.S. IMO and will get picked up before they even hit it to begin with.

I'd love to see Paul and Dolac make the club, esp. Dolac. He just makes plays.
The day I read Troy Reeder is no longer a Ram will be a happy day.
