Rams Finalize 53-Man Roster with Sweeping Cuts

As the NFL’s roster cutdown deadline hit at 4 p.m. ET today, the Los Angeles Rams finalized their 53-man roster, parting ways with a mix of rookies, veterans, and preseason standouts. The decisions reflect the focus of head coach Sean McVay and general manager Les Snead on depth, health, and immediate contributions in a competitive NFC West. With a stacked roster in key areas like the defensive line and secondary, the Rams waived 22 players outright, placed two on the waived/injured list, and terminated the contract of one vested veteran. While some cuts were expected, others—such as cutting fifth-round draft pick Chris Paul Jr. while retaining Troy Reeder—have ignited debate among fans and analysts.

The Rams roster is about as deep as it’s been in years, and these cuts reflect the tough choices the coaches had to make. As these players clear waivers, several of them will revert to the practice squad on Wednesday.

Nice job. Clean summary. You probably really had to control some of your emotions with Paul, Bowles, and Presley.

You best believe, during the games this season... We will be tearing the Rams a new A$$hole when Reeder, is well, Reeder.

I think when it comes to Mumpfield, it was the one game where he was clutch... But I have no idea why they really chose him over Presley. Very puzzling to me...

Im going to look into what Reeder and Mump have on the Rams... they have to have something... :D

I wanted Presley over Mumpfield, but maybe they figured they already had two little guys in Tutu and Xavier.

Is Mumpfield a good ST tackler?

Don't know if he can play ST. We shall see.
I don't think we will see much of him at WR this year.

It's not about preseason stats - it's about other things like traits and how the player grasps the concepts.
Perhaps Mumpfield just runs more precise patterns and knows the blocking schemes.

Guys if you have not listened to GlendoraRams AI generated Sean McVay post via X you must. Funny as hell!

Also, Sean McVay must not have re-watched game 1 where Mumpfield dropped two perfect passes, did not catch up to a deep ball for a TD, and gave up too early resulting in an INT. BTW-these were four separate plays.

I think pre-season games are merely a show, too bad as no one told Presley who played his ass off.

If you are lax in practice games... such as Mumpfield was in preseason, it will show up in real games.
