Is this the best receiver group of the McVay era?
This year’s group feels like the deepest group in memory.

Because he didn't play in preseason and with everybody else on the depth chart, it seems like nobody has been talking about Whittington. I'm really curious to see what his season looks like at the end of the year. I like him on jet sweeps and down field blocking but he has good hands too. I wonder how much action he will get this year.

This could be true. Especially since Kupps win rate last season was near the worst in the league last season. There is a reason he's not on the roster anymore with that salary and current ability. J.W. is simply better these days. The group is 4 deep now with proven talent and then has two more potential up and comers in their ability to contribute.

We may have depth, we may have talent, but can we throw to more than 2 of the 8? Mix a ball or two to Tutu....

You’re going to see how washed Kupp was last year. Adams is a big upgrade. Still excellent.

Honestly, how much they use Tutu Atwell should be one of the top 5 things to watch this year. Stafford's health, the new ILB's, yada yada yada...I want to see why they paid him $10 mil to come back. Personally, I think he will have a career year but not WR1 type stats (55 rec, 750 yards, 4TD)

I am very pleased with this group and add Highly and Ferguson and overall the receiving Corp is super deep. Plus I was a big fan of Pressley and Edwards from preseason overall it has to be the deepest in the NFL. Replacing Kupp with Adams was a super smart move that should pay major dividends. Traditionally the #1 wr that is dominate in the league usually gets some sort of roll coverage. I contend we have 2 1A wrs with Adams and Puka you can't roll coverage to both you have to pick your poison. Most of all usually teams have 1 great DB and the 2bd and 3rds grade down giving one of our two top wrs and advantage.
We must go back this season to a throw first offense imo bc we should have advantages while being smart about chipping and keeping a RB in for extra protection.

Deepest in memory?????
We have a bunch of guys that show promise but really have not shown anything
My memory still goes back to GSOT and that was the deepest WR group IMO

That was 25 years ago.
I guess I should have said “deepest in recent memory”.

Actually, I think this group is pretty close to the GSOT. Bruce/ Holt to Puka/Adams is pretty comparable. One might think comparing Bruce and Puka is a stretch, but puka's early numbers show that hes in the conversation.
Then it goes down to Az/Proehl to Tu2/Whit. We'll have to see what the latter two can do this year.

Common it is common knowledge that the deepest wr group was Harold Jackson, Lance Rentzel, Ron Jessie, and Jack Snow.
Signed Jack Snow.

Cooks/Woods/Kupp was the best of the McVay era. I don’t think it’s even close really.
And the GSOT era blows them away when you factor in Faulk out of the backfield as a pass catcher

Puka, Adams, TuTu and Whitt are pretty damn close or even better. We will have to wait and see.

How do you figure?
You aren’t getting prime Adams. He’s going to be 33 in December. Tutu is a jag. Puka is a stud. And Whittington hasnt done anything.
Cooks/Kupp were both elite guys in their primes. Woods was a very high floor veteran.
The way I see it is:
Puka is an elite talent.
Tutu is just a guy
Whit just a guy
Adams is a guy that was elite in his prime, but he’s not in his prime anymore.

Adams had 1,063 yards last year playing on the Jets and Raiders. Career wise he is better than Cooks was. We'll see how much he has left.
Is this group better? Ehh its close. But potentially they could be. Every bit as talented.

Rams had Cooks in his age 25/26 season.
Cooks at age 25 vs Adams at 32. I don’t see this as close at all really.
If you think Puka/Kupp is a wash…. Then it comes down to the other guys. Even at #3,Robert Woods was way more established than Tutu.

Based off last years production, it is close. Cooks was never a bonafide number 1 type. He had one season where he had more than 1,200 yards (1,204). And that was playing with Brady, Brees and Goff. Adams has had 4 seasons above 1,350 yards. Adams was a 1,000 yard guy last season playing on terrible offenses. If were looking at production and not "age" it is very close.
Again, I'm not saying this group is better. But they are higher ceiling players who stastically in Adams and Puka especially have put up big time numbers. Atwell is just a bonus with his speed and ability to get open. Hopefully the Rams utilize that more this year.
