Have to rewatch but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was doubled a lot……..

Yes, they must have focused on him. Remember, their O coordinator, Nick Caley, saw a lot of Verse last year and could plan for him. Fortunately Tyler Davis and Byron Young stepped up.

From what I saw… He was damn busy stuffing the box and keeping OL guys busy, so then in turn our LB’s could make the tackles (unlike in years past where we all got used to watching our DB’s making tackles on dive and sweep run plays). Our entire DL did its job today, and allowing our LB’s to shine.
In pass pays, true, he was quiet. But I saw some double and triple teams on a few occasions.
Verse did excellent today imo. Sometimes you have to be the quiet leader to help others shine. Verse will get his sacks this season… but today, he did well

B.Y. really stood out, super proud of how he played and Davis just came out of obscurity for a key sack.

Top 5 defense
LB Nate Landman: 90.7
OLB Jared Verse: 90.6
CB Cobie Durant: 87.7
OLB Byron Young: 78.5
S Kamren Kinchens: 66.4
Verse didn't have a sack but he led the team with four pressures and also drew a holding penalty on the Texans' first offensive snap.
How much did Verse impact the game planning/play calling? Quicker throws/qb scrambles...it's hard to tell, but 9 points and no TD's is impressive. I thought he (and Landman) set the edge well also. He was still very physical.

The D including Verse played well. Texans only had 3 field goals and a big reason was the pass rush.
I didn't watch the tape but based off his PFF grade my guess is he was doubled alot, still won alot of one vs ones, made the tackle when needed and impacted the game.

Omar not staying in his lane (to the left of the LT) allowed CJ to break containment and get to the outside, costing Verse a sack
