Please McVay! Start Dolac!

The ILB position is as much about ''read and react" and "football instinct/acumen" as it is athleticism, maybe even more so. Undersized guys like London Fletcher( who the Rams NEVER should have let go), Sam Mills and recently Matt Milano have thrived in the NFL. Shaun Dolac has this ability based on his stellar college career, and pre-season and special teams performance. He has already beat out draft pick, Pooh Paul. Speights' injury is a unique opportunity to give this kid a chance. We all know what Troy Reeder is, and that is NOT a starting caliber NFL ILB. Save Reeder for special teams, where he is sorely needed. Start Dolac and there is a good chance that the Rams will have unlocked a keeper who will help the defense NOW.

Yes please. Sean- if you are reading this....start the young stud. No more Reeder. Don't care he's familiar. Don't care at all.

True, but Mcvay let's his DC choose who starts or not and allows them to speak on why. He isnt a control freak when it comes to the defense. He's been like this since Wade, I doubt he changes now. Unfortunately Shula thinks highly of Reeder, as he explained why Reeder made the team. It was Shula who explained why he chose to keep Reeder over Chris Paul. Of course Mcvay can take control of the D and tell Shula who should start, but I doubt he will.

Shula
On Wednesday, defensive coordinator Chris Shula answered that second question. He praised Reeder’s reliability behind Nate Landman and Omar Speights, as well as his leadership as a pseudo-coach on the field.

“He's a guy that we can trust,” Shula said. “We’ve obviously got Landman and Omar as our top two guys, but if god forbid anything happened, he's the guy that could just seamlessly go in. He has been in the system. I've been his linebacker coach a couple of different times and know him very well. A guy that could seamlessly go in and then what he's done is he's taken some of these young guys off. He's taken a mentorship [role] and he’s thinking about getting into coaching and he's taken that role where he's almost the assistant linebacker's coach in the room as well and obviously the special teams captain. He's a very valuable piece for us and we're all happy to have him.”

Reeder got scored against right away Thursday. He couldn’t keep up with the SF receiver. I was yelling, “Why is he in there?” Later, Dolac made a studly ST tackle. Hopefully they give Dolac a chance. Maybe they should elevate Eli Neal too.

Save yourself the stomach acid - McVay/Shula will start and play Reeder ( and he WILL be exposed).

Yep- They love Reeder for his nice guy attitude I'm sure. No way they don't play him. He needs to fake an injury and save face.

Yeah, and that's why they suck at making decisions. If they let Reeder play despite how shitty he is, they deserve to lose.

The defense will be fine...

All this "This guy needs to be fired" "That guys needs to be fired" "This guy needs to be benched" around these parts. Some of you would suck at being a coach or a boss.

Shula and McVay are doing an above average job so far.... Some of the players just need to cut down on mistakes...... oh and get an experienced field goal kicker. (sorry for bringing that up so often)
I agree with you on most of the noise in here. BUT. ST coach needs to fired like 2 weeks ago. And Dolac needs to start over a known quantity in Reeder. Why in the world would anyone say otherwise? Will we collapse with Reeder? no. But we need to move on and see what this guy can do. Maybe he fails on the big stage. But we know what we have in Reeder. The fire McVay, fire Shula...yeah I'm not there on any level.

You're ok with mediocre football. We're not.

Firing the ST coach has to happen. It's not just missed FG. We had BLOCKED FGs and a blocked PAT. And we lost those games due to this. We should be 5-0. This is like watching high school ball. Bring in a real ST coach to right the ship.
