Blackburn the worst special teams coach EVER

Two years ago the Rams had one of the worst special teams in the history of the NFL according to NFL stats. I think Blackburn ran the worst, or the 3rd worst special teams unit since NFL records were tracked.

Two years later he is still our coach yet McVay keeps him why? He single handedly is losing us games in almost every aspect of the special team game.

When you tolerate ineptitude, it grows.

I have to agree. 6 games in and we STILL like a complete dump on ST. In fact, I’d argue we’re gotten worse at ST!

Mcvay keeps rolling him out there...

Why?

Im convinced the only way Chase is no longer a ram this year is if he quits.

The kicking is bad but some of the other stuff is bad too.

The holding on the punt return caused the Ram to get backed up on the 10.

Then you had a punt return giving up where Evans outkicked his coverage. Then the illegal man downfield with guys not knowing the rule

Yep. Thanks for bringing up these other parts of special teams… entire unit is a mess… it’s not even kicking….We are just awful. Our special teams is the worst I’ve ever seen.

Fire the damn coach already Snead. (because Sean won’t)

Agreed Chase has to go

A new ST coach is needed to evaluate Karty and the rest of the players, but first Chase has to go.

Wonder Boy thinks he can fix everybody. Look how long he kept Morris around and he was a dud too. He will get fired in Atlanta.

duanevalle22 wrote: October 13th, 2025, 8:19 am A different coach isn't going to make it better.... you have to have the players.

In terms of dollars the Rams have the lowest paid defense in the NFL, and all I read around here is how bad Shula is. To me he has done a fantastic job with what he has been given. And I'm sure the Rams ST is on even more of a financial budget. IMO the only thing the Rams need is a kicker, but good ones don't grow on trees and good ones cost $$$$$ which I'm sure the Rams aren't going to pay for.

And yesterday the ST didn't allow any points other than the kicker missing a field goal, and the defense has allowed only three field goals (9 points) in the last six quarters (not counting the overtime quarter against the niners).

Some of you (IMO) look at things through an odd lenses.
Got to totally disagree here. Just look at McVay vs Fisher in one year. 4-12 vs 11-5. A new ST coach will bring a different pov to the group imo. Sure the players are responsible coaches arent on the field but good coaching aids the players playing the game.

Well as many know I’ve stated how I feel about PFF grades. That said:

PFF overall team rankings after Week 6:

1. Rams - 91.7

2. Seattle - 90.1

3. Detroit - 89.7

4. Green Bay - 84.5

5. Indy - 81.6

6. Buffalo - 80.0

Ram's offense is ranked 2nd behind only Seattle.
Ram's defense is ranked 1st (tied with Cleveland)
Ram's special teams are ranked 32nd

Not a surprise to me . A BIG surprise is the fact that this guy still has a job with the rams . Is Mcsnead incapable of firing people ?
