if we don't play Ferguson????

why do we draft him in the second round so he can be the fourth string tight end??
The Cardinals drafted Will Johnson a big cornerback 6'2 202 out of Michigan who is their starter with a PFF grade of 80, right after we picked Fergie
It's not like we're targeting the tight ends a lot even when Ferguson's not on the field
are you not annoyed????

McVay is McVay when it comes to most rookies. I’m not saying I agree but we have seen his template with rookies since he arrived………
We also know if you are a TE and is not where McVay wants you to be in regards to blocking then until you are……
JMO not worth worrying about……..

not an issue now but down the road if these guys don't get on the field the roster will suffer....high draft picks are not meant to sit on the bench

If Ferguson needs an entire year to learn how to block maybe he shouldn't have been drafted in the second round. That is all I am going to say. High draft picks needs to make an immediate impact that is how you make your roster better

It is who McVay is. How many rookies under him have “red shirted”…………………..

perhaps that is who McVay is but he really needs to adjust his game, he started Ernest Jones, he started Speights last year, Avila, Limmer, Verse, Kobi, Fiske, Kupp, Puka .....
they talked about trading up to draft Bowers, the eventual Raiders TE IN THE FIRST ROUND TWO DRAFTS ago, would that guy have started. Seems like stupidity to me, wish we had that big cornerback on our team right now instead of a fourth string tight end

Not concerned about next year either....but I am concerned for THIS year. You never know how many chances you get. We look good this year (if we cleanup the mistakes and ST unit). Staff playing great, OLB playing great, DL playing great, RB room is solid. I don't wanna hold back anyone who can make us a better team. Seems like coach is doing just that. Unless there's some issue we don't know about.

I wanted Will too, its still early on how long his legs will hold up, which is why he fell in the draft. Rams really should have addressed CB, at least through free agency. I do admit that Spoon getting injured really screwed things up.
Mcvay has started plenty of rookies, Avila, Verse, Fisk, Kobie, Kupp, Puka, Speights, TuTu as a punt returner, KW as a Kick returner, etc. More likely Ferg will be contributing by year end.
With that said, I get why Mcvay likes him, he does seem to have the ability to get down the field and make contested catches. I cant think of the last tight end the rams had with that skillset. Mcvay wanted that skillset so bad, that he was willing to sit him for a third of the season while he learns how to block.

He would be a great answer to McVay's weak spot: 3rd and short....red zone scores.

So say I agree with you. Now what? He has decided Ferguson isn’t going to play much even though I didn’t look but he is getting snaps. He needs to adjust because we say he needs to? Again there are few if any HC in the league with his job security. He is going to continue to do what ever the hell he wants to………

It was strictly a reply back to OC on if he doesn’t get on the field “down the road”………

You guys are answering your own question……..
This particular rookie I guess isn’t ready yet in the opinion of the only person who matters…………

Well yes- if that's the case, then it's disappointing I guess. Another Tutu situation. I think it's WAY too early to get crazy over this, but yeah- if he is seeing more snap counts and not getting any action in the pass game, I will be disappointed. I think that will change.

Will Johnson was one of the highest rated cornerbacks in the draft and a position of need. I don't understand what we were thinking. I too am pissed off at the way we draft in the early rounds.
McVay values his TE's about the same way as he does his MLB"s. Unless he finds a steal (like Landman) he seems to be ok with just getting by with average players at these positions.

Will Johnson prior injury scared off lots of teams. Teams were worried that it can be a longterm issue that could effect his career. So far so good for Will but it's early.
Will Johnson fell in the 2025 NFL draft primarily due to medical concerns, specifically a knee issue that teams were worried about, along with a history of other lower-body injuries. These concerns, including a turf toe injury that ended his 2024 season, a hamstring injury that kept him out of the NFL Combine and Pro Day, and the newer knee issue, caused his draft stock to drop from a projected top-10 pick to the second round.

Keep it coming.....his blocking was apparently stellar too. Higbee drops are only helping make the case. I want to see #18 targeted more and used more like Higbee for 1st downs. See what his hands and YAC look like.

By all accounts this is a stupid move and youre a stupid coach if you leave your most talented TE on the bench because hes a rookie.
Playmakers is what wins championships and Ferguson needs to be on the field full time NOW!!!!!!!

I have no problem with him being eased in. As he gets more comfortable, and as Stafford gets comfortable with him, I think he'll be a mismatch beast for the offense. This was shown with his TD Sunday, on a 30 yard streak down the middle of the field. Perfect toss/catch, and hopefully see more of him.

Yup he is moving on up.
He could very well be up in the 60s by season end, just in time for the playoff run. He is progressing nicely.
Imagine the trust from both Mcvay and Stafford on that 4th and one.
Like I said before, i can see why Mcvay drafted him, even knowing it might take 3 or 4 games for him to get assignments and blocking down. His ability to get down the field and make contested catches is impressive.

So McVay is stupid because he doesn’t play a rookie TE……….. Didn’t Ferguson play like 49% of the snaps yesterday n like 35% the week before? Oh that’s right it needs to be 100%……………
Hey Sean you are not winning a championship unless you play your rookie TE all the time. LMFAO……………

TE rooms had lot of snap count....Allen had 51%, Parky 47%; Higs 37%; Ferg 49%
Crazy game for those guys. Lot of 12 and even 13 personnel. Good little blurb on Ramswire about it. Not the same old McVay in week 7.
