right now he's on pace to have over 24 sacks

it's hard to keep that momentum but 20 seems very reasonable, is this a contract year? I think he has 2026, so we get one more year, would it be a bad idea to sign him early?? edge rusher contracts are scary

If anyone gets bumped on contract extension from this current DL it's likely going to be Kobie Turner. Verse, Fiske and Young all have a high level of friendship and comraderie that simply cannot be replaced. They push each other, they keep each other straight. And they try to out do each other. The good news is that Staffords contract is likely coming off the books within the next couple of years. Keeping Puka et. All probably won't be any issue.

I would say Young contract is a done deal, but it always come down to money. Also will come down to Stewart. He has looked good.
Imo Rams will wait until after 2026 to decide in Young.

Rams could either resign, franchise or franchise and trade. It will come down to price and how well Stewart looks at the end of 2026.

Sadly, camaraderie often plays second fiddle when it comes to money. We saw that first hand with Aaron Donald, and most recently Stafford. With many of these players coming from middle, to lower class income families it amazes me how many players turn down 28 mil because they want 30 mil. Ive always wondered how much of that is player, and how much is agent.

The Rams have had a close knit team for several years, I dont recall many hometown discounts because of friendship.

yeah it's probably not a bad idea to wait, Snead got burned with the early extensions a couple times

Response to both... I said nothing of discounts. It's not just friendship.. it's cohesiveness on a level you cannot replace. And lastly none of these guys are Cooper Kupp on their last legs, to boot Kupp already had a contract the Rams bid adios to.

Yes and no on your thought here IMO. Me, Shula does a fab job getting Stewart his. The depth he provides (quality of) is probably unmatched by any other team. So it really depends on McSnead and if they want that luxury to continue. I would.

Kobie has really disappointed me this year. That's the guy I'm currently not re-siging. Going into last year he was our best player on defense. More of a after thought now.
I like everything said and agree. Turner is the extension odd man out. You can't let a 12+ sack guy walk in Young.

Agree. Ots a passing league. Guys who get to the QB are key. When you have them, you've got to keep them. Loved Young when he was picked, and had high hopes this is what he would become.

On that subject, wasnt there a story that the Rams lucked into him because another team in front of them wanted him, but selected the "other" Byron Young that was in that draft?

You can't sign them all. A majority, yes I think they can. But somebody is the odd man out and before this Young development I would have said him, especially now because Stewart seems like a keeper. But I won't be surprised if BY gets 15 sacks. As I said, you don't let 12+ sacks walk in this league. My pick is Turner and I love the Conductor. Shoot, I love all the DL for their varied and effective contributions.

Things are lining up nicely for Stafford to leave just as the majority of our young guys end their rookie contracts i.e. one more year of this cycle with Stafford then we get a cheaper rookie QB or hand the reins to Stetson.
