Mevis no head case.

My guess is if Mevis has a bad kick he won't let it get in his head. He will just eat himself to death.

We complained a lot at the time but they did take action on the special teams and seem to have solved it.
I would give Mevis a bit more time but he feels like a keeper.

The ball comes off Mevis foot like Zuerlein. Lots of height right off the bat. I’ve seen enough to keep him long term and cut Karty loose

I was glad to see the Rams going for a field goal to see what Mevis can do. McVay looked like he had a sigh of relief after his kick. Mevis' 52-yarder looked like it would have bend good from 62.

only thing is the kickoffs right now. As we head into the playoffs.. don't need teams starting every drive at the 35. He gotta practice the Karty dirty kickoffs and perfect them.

The fat shaming has to stop. Who care what he looks like, he is our kicker, not a swimsuit model. I saw him kick a 60 yarder for a win outdoor in college.

Since nobody has mentioned it, I'll point out that Mevis is 13 for 13 on XP's and 2 for 2 on FG's. That's 15-15. And his kicks are always right down the middle. The fact he wears #92 and is is a big guy should make him our next folk hero.

+1. How can you not love a 250 lb kicker, who also wears a lineman number!!
I think hes working on the kickoffs. He actually had a couple that were perfect. Then, after the big lead, I had no problem with the touch backs. No risk for a momentum changing return, or a senseless injury in a blowout.

Mevis and Evans are both beasts!

The blocking still needs to improve.

KARTY would have NEVER made that kick . dude was in his face and he had a CLEAR lane to try to block the kick and almost did it , he was unblocked and ran free. Will the special teams coach ever get this right ?

Nice post BR/ Cornell29, I didn't see that it was almost blocked during game. In the past blocks and this one is the penetration (not sexual reference)always from outside?

This is what I dont get, so many talking heads have the Rams almost flawless... yet, I scratch my head because apparently they dont watch the Rams special teams.
Have they improved, yes... but this is still our weakest link...

Agreed
As someone who bashes Chase regularly. This was schemed right, unfortunately Allen failed to block his man.
Which gets back to what Mcvay said earlier. It isnt just one thing. Sometimes it's the blocking scheme, other times, it's the kicker, or the snap, or the holder or the blockers missing their blocks.
With that said, it's Chase job to get everyone on the same page and he is failing at it

I bet, everytime the Rams offense is in FG range with a manageable 4th down, Mcvay remembers all the tape of the special teams, and say F it Im going for it.

Actually I think our coverage unit is good. It’s the kick off strategy that sucks. And that is probably on McVay………
And one could say our punter is the best in league……..

You know he does. No doubt in my mind. We have barely kicked any fields goals since Phly game I think

Nope , sometimes the penetration was from the middle . The Philly game for example .

At the end of the day, the only thing of importance is that he has not missed a kick yet
