C-

Only due to the Atlanta trade which I think will net us a higher 1st next year. If not for that trade, I’d give this draft an F.

They took depth pieces at positions they already have players at, while ignoring huge holes on the team where they can actually improve if they put better players in those spots.

I seriously can’t believe they didn’t take an OT, LB, or CB with their first 2 picks. Those are critical needs on the team, high value spots, and they just completely took guys that will barely see the field.

The way I look at it is this: Can the Rams survive if Corum/Kyen go down? Yes. Can they survive if Higbee/Parkinson go down? Yes.

Can they survive if Jackson/Havenstein go down? No.
Can they survive with their CB group? No.
Can they survive with Reeder/Speights starting? No

Average draft. I would have preferred to keep our pick 26. I think leadership did fine with the picks. Hard to rate players I don’t really know.

Primarily rate it as average because it was boring. It could turn into a hers draft. If we can get 2 starters it will can be considered good.

I likewise did not like the trade of 26. I understand that the big picture may be geared to next year, and a QB, but it really handcuffed them this year. Parting with the 3rd hurt. With the picks they had, aside from the 2nd rd pick, expecting much more than backups would be unrealistic.

The next question I've been trying to guess on, is how many teams will aggressively be looking for a QB next year? You can now take the usual suspects out (Browns giants, titans). Will be interesting. If the Rams finish this year as we all expect, you could be looking at both 1s and a 2 to move up. Like I said, will be interesting and fun.

We have backups for Jackson/Havenstein. But I agree the CB and LB groups are weak. I'm hoping Chris Paul Jr. will be a steal. But we really didn't need a backup DT or OLB over CB. IMO we could have used two high end CB's. But i'm glad we found a TE. He may not have been the BPA but he's certainly going to be better than Parkinson.

Who is our backup OT? Are they better than Noteboom was last year (who wasn’t very good) or a couple of the other guys we played?

Noteboom isn't even on the depth chart on ESPN. we are very thin with this OL group so hopefully they can stay healthy

Plusses:

Getting an extra first-round draft pick in the 2026 draft, that's of great importance given the supposedly strong and deep '26 QB class;

Acquiring a presumably solid coverage ILB at a cheap price;

Increasing team speed and big-play ability at TE and RB, should Sean McVay remember to employ those players during games;

Upgrading an already effective pass rush, which may prove critical to the team's pass defense.

Minuses:

Giving up a fourth-round choice in the '26 draft;

Failing to acquire a #1 CB;

Also failing to acquire a reliable backup OT.

Because of the successful trade to obtain the Falcons' first-round selection for next year's draft, I'll give the overall result a "B" at this exceedingly early point... :? ;) :geek:

RAM SEASON!!

CB issue can be solved bringing back Ramsey. Yes, it will cost a mid round pick next year but he would be best CB on the team. I trust McSnead in how they draft. When Rams get their next franchise QB next year everybody will be praising trading 26 to Falcons.

A lot of moving parts. If it costs a 5th rounder for Ramsey , and the Atl pick is in the late teens, it would possibly cost both 1s and the 2 to move up. Already giving up next years 4th would leave them very thin. A lot of "IFS". The front office has their work cut out here. I just dont see them trading away any more of 26 draft picks. I think more apt to look at the waiver wire.

Average. I am still perplexed by the Rams drafting a RB and not a DB. I do like the Paul Jr pick

Depends how you view it…

Did we get what we needed in this draft? Not really, so a C-. That’s if you were expecting us to fill current holes in roster…

Or is this all part of the puzzle w McSnead’s plans and we can expect to see CB and some other vital spot filled w free agency and future team cuts?

Remains to be seen, but I’m confident we know exactly what we’re doing. Rams know the needs w draft, as all these guys will be on rookie deals, and they also know what players will be available after salary cuts with other teams.

It’s all part of the master plan, in us bringing the Lombardi home. Don’t fret, we got this.

GO RAMS!

Fill a CB spot and LT in FA, and I'll feel better. I'm most concerned on LT. Remember those 1st couple weeks when AJ was suspended. It was REALLY bad. Need plan B.

Noteboom is not on the Rams current roster. To my knowledge, no team has even considered signing him.

He is however a UFA I believe, and you are correct... he is not on the roster... but my point was, I can see the Rams bringing him back as a back up and pay a lot less than his $10M a year he had before...

Honestly, I rather have Bulldawgs mom in there filling in at backup... at least she knows how to block, and also very good at handling donkey punches.
