I just followed the Rams and never really payed attention to the deeper issues like ownership, fan base, and stadium issues. Thanks for the history.DelMar wrote: ↑October 6th, 2025, 10:04 am
Wow.
Sorry man, I cant let this one slide...as this is just an ignorant statement and factually not true. To even say that it was race issues is unreal.
Teams will go where they will make the most money, period. End of story. I mean, why are the Rams just a few minutes back to where the Coliseum was, now? So your race theory is just not good. So let's not throw the Rams under the bus for this... if you want to throw anyone under the bus, first in line is the wicked witch of the south, Georgia. Now that was some shady crap w her and the move to St Louis
The Rams moved to Anaheim because the Coliseum seats almost a 100k people. If you look at the attendance records their last 7 seasons or so, they only filled half the stadium IF they were lucky. And the worse part is, it was during this same time period as the Rams were on fire... making the playoffs and even the SB... yet couldnt sell games out. (see screen shot below)
Compounding those issues mentioned above, the stadium was simply not suitable for what the Rams wanted as well. Rams wanted a more updated stadium, as the Coliseum was quickly falling behind.
Also, OC, Inland Empire and Temecula areas were exploding in population. And if you look at the Inland Empire and Riverside County, white people are the minority, even in the 1970's.
Just like the Rams issues w the city, Al Davis took the risk and moved the Raiders there in 1982 with assurances that a NEW stadium would be built. And just like the Rams, the deal never happened so Al moved the team back to Oakland in 1995.
Nobody else in the ENITRE NFL, for 20 years could come up with a credible plan for a stadium in the 2nd largest market IN the Country... until our man, Stan bought up all the land in Inglewood and decided to do it himself.
In fact, it was such a hot idea by Stan, The Chargers wanted LA even more, but had no money to build... so, NFL decided to give LA to BOTH teams (and on Stan's dime)

Well hopefully you’re not paying attention to false history that NEVER happened.

Yeah that 20 year gap of no LA team is hitting us now.. I hope it doesn’t take 20 years to take back our stadium.duanevalle22 wrote: ↑October 6th, 2025, 7:43 amThe Rams just don't have the cultural dynamic like the Dodgers, Lakers and Clippers have, and probably never will, unless the Rams have a Fernando Valenzuela episode.
I know some of you are gonna get bent out of shape about me saying this, but when the Rams moved to Anaheim they basically gave the middle finger to Black and Latino folks in South Central and the general neighborhoods near the Coliseum, and they all became Raider Fans and to this day are still Raider Fans. Let's be real about Anaheim, the white folks barely gave a damn about the Angels during that time and they showed they didn't give one damn about the Rams.
So when the Rams and Raiders disappeared it opened the door for the 49ers, and if you haven't learned by now once Blacks, Latinos and Asians follow a team they stay true to it. That is why most LA based 49er fans are still Dodgers, Lakers and Clipper fans, because they feel culturally accepted by these teams.
This is why the Dodgers will always be the team, it's because their dynamic speaks to many cultures, and the fan loyalty is impenetrable.... Very Very similar to the Swifties. lol
I remember at the time that the move to Anaheim was questioned in this way.

Re: What a disgrace
That’s zero excuse. Look at Baltimore or Houston. Do opposing fans hijack their stadium because they were without pro football for awhile?DVA_ram33 wrote: ↑October 6th, 2025, 6:08 pmYeah that 20 year gap of no LA team is hitting us now.. Re: What a disgrace
They also have real season ticket holders, not a load of turd sucking 3rd party brokers. LA is different, as it’s all about the show. These companies buy up these seats because they know so Cal is a melting pot of all different NFL fans and they can sell tickets for thousands instead of hundreds.
You know this, So Cal is like New York… not a ton of natives like Baltimore and Houston.
Unfortunately, it’s just different in LA. Again, no excuses here… just sucks.
St Louis def had over LA was…Lack of 3rd party brokers and some real fans. Not saying there is not real fans in LA (as I am one of them) but whenever I went to games in St Louis, it just hit different. 1998 to about 2003, it was amazing to be at those Rams games in Louis. One of my favorite times being a Rams fan, even though I was living in So Cal
