Re: Jerry Jones on Rams
I couldn’t imagine life if we had a boss like this. Jerry is the best thing for us Ram fans
Kronk - master at delegating. Trust his management. Good relationship w everyone. Stays out of public eye. Unlimited finances. People enjoy working for and with him. BIG BALLS
Jones - Opposite on ALL of above

And this is why they'll never be better than what they are now. He's the main problem with that team.

Re: Jerry Jones on Rams
Jerry Jones was born in Inglewood, CA where the Rams Sofi stadium us now, and was instrumental in bringing back the Rams during the owners meetings in Houston, Texas (I was working in Houston that day). Most people assume Jerry was originally from Texas or Arkansas but he is actually originally from Inglewood, CA.
Marv Levy and former NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue were from Compton, CA-I few towns over from SOFI.
I love Jerry Jones

Re: Jerry Jones on Rams
Well, I would hardly go that far, however I do respect Jerry Jones for his significant role in helping Stan Kroenke relocate the Rams franchise back to Los Angeles, particularly by insuring that the vote on which stadium proposal be accepted occur via secret ballot.EastBayRamsFan wrote: ↑August 20th, 2025, 12:39 pm

Re: Jerry Jones on Rams
As you can tell, Im not much of a fan of Jerry and how he runs his team, but that means nothing. He earned and built it, dont have to like it as a Cowboys fan... but thats pure capitalism and America... work hard enough, and w a little bit of luck and some backing.. you can accomplish about anything.
But, thats not the point in this clip as you will see, it's about something much more important and bigger than life.
Being a huge FAN of the series 'Landman' (on Paramount+), when I saw this part, it moved me and really gave me a new perspective on my own life. We just have no idea when we wake up, if thats your last day. Or if you have lost a loved one, and how that feels. Absolutely awful to think about, so what Jerry said in this part, I thought was amazing.
(Also, did some research on this, apparently these were not prepared lines all set up, they told him Jerry to speak from the heart in what is truly important in his own life.
And I think he spoke this wonderfully from the heart...
Damn, I love my kids.

Re: Jerry Jones on Rams
I'm about three and a half episodes into the Netflix documentary on the Cowboys. I'm very divided on Jerry Jones. On one hand you can see his earnestness and admire the boldness to take big swings. On the other hand, you see a GIANT ego that is constantly chasing validation.
One thing is crystal clear. He IS the reason that
1) they went on that amazing run in the 90s - the stones to remove Tom Landry and hire Jimmy Johnson AND deal Herschel Walker
2) they have been mired in mediocrity since.
He is driven by the need to feel the feeling he had at Arkansas as a teammate on a championship. We wants, no, NEEDS to feel like he was part of doing the work to get there. He wants the credit for everything, including the actual football element - even interrupting Jimmy's post game celebrations. And, he openly admits that he views his job as making the Dallas Cowboys "a soap opera 12 months out of the year."
The most successful owners hire EXPERTS to scout, manage their roster, run the draft, and coach the team. Jerry knows a lot about football - but he cannot compete with the ones grinding on film and being on the front lines. I just don't see how they can ever recapture greatness as long as he is meddling in the weekly affairs and constantly in the media. Yep, a four month standoff with Micah Parsons gets you in the media cycle for the entire Summer. But at what long term cost?
I'm thankful that most fans wouldn't even be able to name the owner of the Rams, let alone recognize him in public. And thankful he let's Les and Sean do their jobs while the cash rolls in. THAT is good business.

Re: Jerry Jones on Rams
Guy has an 8 part documentary on NetFlix and his franchise hasn’t played in an NFC title game let alone a Super Bowl since January of 1996.
If I were a Cowboys fan I would have enough of Michael Irvin reminiscing about the early 1990s.
