Rams need to upgrade from Speights

I don’t care about tackles. Misleading stat. I look at big play stats. Pass deflections, INT, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and sacks. Speights only has one pass deflection and nothing else.

Landman had 2.5 sacks, 7 tackles for loss, 6 deflections, 4 forced fumble and a pick.

Even Shaun Dolac has 2 stuffs in way less PT. Rozeboom was has been a much more productive linebacker.

Speights is a JAG and an easy upgrade. Frankly his production stinks. Look at Landman who we signed for a mil. Nakobe Dean is a FA and the eagles may let him walk as they have Campbell and Baun. Rams should target him. Won’t be too expensive either.

I agree upgrade needed for Speights but Nakobe Dean is a real stud and I don’t think the Eagles are letting him go.

You had me until you mentioned Roseboom. While I agree we need an upgrade from Speights (and I've been saying this all year) Roseboom sucked and still does. Dean might be a good get but I think we need to draft a good young ILB in 26. Landman came out of nowhere and has played like his hair is on fire. Put another stud beside him and draft some DB's and we are set until Stafford retires.

ILB isn’t a costly position. Just one the Rams didn't care about until they realized what an upgrade does.

Speights is good against the run and horrible against the pass. He also can't blitz. It seems he was supposed to be with the guy that scored the last 2 point conversion against Seattle. The guy was completely free. We do need an upgrade. He is barely serviceable. Landaman is also not very good when convering and the corners are terrible of course...bottom line : teams can pass the ball on us all they want. Hard to win a chip when your entire defense can't cover.

I don’t know so much of a needed upgrade, I’d rather focus more on higher needed positions but with that said I am very curious/anxious to see what the UB kid can do!!

Yes agree they need to upgrade this position.. we don't need elite, but just something a little better than below average.

Candidly, I expected more from Speights after the preseason he had last year when he was tackling machine.

Speights is a JAG. He will be a nice backup but nothing more. I expected it to happen this year but if we don't draft a coverage linebacker I think it will be Landman and Dolac next year as our starters. Nobody really knows what we have in Dolac yet. But even still if we can draft an elite cover linebacker and have Dolac and Speights as backups then I think we may be good in the middle. Imagine if we had a Fred Warner type in the middle along with Landman. Add at least one young corner and another young safety and the back end would be fine.

Dolac does not have the physical tools.. way too slow.

Speights just being better than Rozenboom and Reeder makes him ok in my book. I wouldn’t mind seeing Dolac get some real PT though.

This week will tell alot about the toughness of this defense. Bijan Robinson IMO is one of the top 3 backs in the league.

Styles from OSU racing up the draft board. Thought they had a chance with him with their 2nd pick in the 1st round but he won't be there probably now. I could see them trading back in round 1 with the ATL pick to get more players. It would have to be a high 2nd round IMO
