Cold in Chicago..a different viewpoint

Much is being made in the media about the Rams, McVay's and Stafford's records in cold weather games. I saw a great opinion on another thread. Most of the players on the Bears team have never played a meaningful game after the regular season from mid-January on. With the wind chill predicted in the single digits, the Bears have probably never played in this type of cold either. They were sitting at home in mid-January for the last decade. These Rams showed they can play in the cold and snow. They were the only team to give Philly a game in the playoffs last year, and they could have won. The weather may certainly play a factor, but I really don't see it as an advantage to the Bears.

I'm sure Stafford's record in cold weather has nothing to do with the fact that most of his career he played on horrible Lions teams? I'm sure the cold was the only reason he lost those games!

Reminds me when the media and other teams fans alike was saying what Stafford playoff record was, his first season as a Ram, prior to wildcard game vs the Cards. Which, as we know, meant nothing. 4 straight post season wins including SB.

I've been making the same point. Both teams have to play in the cold weather. Seems to me that the Rams running game and 13 personnel schemes are better suited for the cold weather. It's not like the Bears play all their games in sub-degree weather. Seems to me that where these players played college ball and the condtions they played in college would matter more. The Rams did okay again the Eagles last year, if it wasn't for two OLine gaffs the Rams probably win that game.

I think to be a contrarian we should throw throw and throw get up big early the cold will help us if we can get up big and fast.

It’s going to be cold got it. But it is also going to turn into a football game with both teams playing in the weather. So……..

There is a huge statistical, yep I know I hate that word but am saying it, gap on one side of the ball with these 2 teams. And that is the Rams offense against their D. The 2 played at opposite ends of the spectrum this year and it’s not close……..

Rams #1 passing team in NFL. Chicago’s pass D just horrible. Rams 7th best rushing team in NFL. Chicago’s run D in the 20’s. Yards allowed by Chicago towards the bottom. It is very one sided on that side of the ball between the two teams……..

I know Carolina. Carolina’s D was not Chicago’s D this year n if Nacua catches that ball we would have put up 41 points on a Stafford off day……..

Bears offense very good. Rams secondary, well we know. But their 3rd rank rushing offense is going against a 12th rank rushing defense. Not one as low as the Bears rushing D……..

Defensive sacks? Rams 6th Bears 22nd………

I’ll even go as far as saying I think Mevis is better than Santos. I do though think their return game is a concern………

Point is this isn’t the Seahawks or Texans D this Sunday. Far from it. Far from it. At some point Sunday I think this will be the overwhelming subject of the game n not the weather………

I went back and looked at the weather in Chicago this year for home games in December and January. The Bears did play in frigid conditions like the one expected this Sunday when they took on the Browns on December 14th. All their other home games in those months were near freezing (32degrees) or above. FWIW

So I feel good about our 7th rated rushing offense against their fairly low rated rushing D……….

And the same with our 12th ranked rushing D against yes a very good Bears rushing offense. But If not for the regular season Carolina game and the Atlanta game our D would be in the top 10 with this. They have played well against the run all season against some really good backs………

There will be passes thrown this Sunday. I’ll trust Stafford…………..
