Jets release veteran kicker Greg the leg Zuerlein

Post by mrdaputer »

The New York Jets have released veteran kicker Greg Zuerlein after three seasons with Gang Green according to the team's official website.

Zuerlein enjoyed a strong pair of seasons upon arrival in New York, connecting on 86.7% of his field goal attempts over that stretch. The Jets aimed to keep him in the fold last spring, and a two-year pact was indeed agreed to in March. Instead of collecting a $4.1MM salary for 2025, though, Zuerlein will hit free agency late in the offseason.

Great kicker back in the day. Might be time for him to retire.

I suspect this might be it for him .. he's lost that long distance ability for the most part. This is the NFL however, and even if he isn't on a team early .. bad kicking could have him on a roster later.

I think Hekker is reaching that same point as well. His normal strengths were down last season. Could have just been an off year, but he's getting up there
GR .. shaken not stirred

Best thing about Z was we didn't need to worry about FGs. Consistent performer. Rams should pick him up for a day so he could retire as a Ram.
