goal line observation

Post by therealheadslap75 »

Stafford is not accurate when it comes to throwing the ball at the end of the end zone.. I don't know what it is, but he's high. He's usually throwing off his back foot. He's usually way deep in the pocket. It looks like a seven step drop.m

The Rams were much more successful when they were throwing the ball right on the goal line to Kupp, to Higbee, to Gurley or to Woods

I think it's harder for the DB to cover when you have the whole end zone versus covering someone when you have the back of the end zone to protect you

Why does it seem like Stafford's first read is always covered on every goal line passing play

Just some observations

Rams also play one hand tied behind their back because their QB is zero threat to run the ball. He’s an immobile frozen pizza so he better be elite in the pocket. He’s not. Very up and down. For every great throw he misses a 3rd and 2. He isn’t sharp in the red zone. He also zeros in on one receiver. This is his last year here. Enough of his 50 mil cap hit and injuries. Get a modern day QB. He was shitty today. He wasn’t great last year either but had a couple decent playoff games so it appears he had a better season than he did.

Just because he takes his eyes off the 1st guy he's looking at doesn't necessarily mean he was option 1. Especially down there. You gotta check and see who breaks open quick. Ike Bruce was good for getting open down there and was good at grabbing the low throws. I think the 1st look could be a decoy because it comes before the snap often but also at times an option 1 if you're sensing their D's reacting like it's a decoy.
Can't just stare at option 1 all day and throw it to just him.
Also, I don't get the Stafford bashing. He got us into scoring position 7 of the 8 times we were there. From our end of the field. He made some bad throws at some bad times, but what we don't see is the big bodies in front of him he's gotta throw around or over sometimes. And he never turned it over down there trying to force things and cost more points. Nobodies flawless all the time. Sometimes the timing sucks.
We were ahead 26-7 and it should have been more than enough the way the D was playing and we were running it. For whatever reason both did a complete turn around in the 2nd half. Blame the Eagles for a lot of that but I don't get how that's Staff's fault. In the end he drove us to the point of winning with a 44 yarder in the time he had left to work with. And we know what happened. Again I don't see how that's his fault. Devante's drop?
Myself, we'll be just fine with Matt as long as the O-Line holds up.

Yes this is a real problem.. Maybe they need Stetson in on Goal Line packages.

i'm not bashing Stafford for this loss, he's just not that good on the goal line in general, not just this game every game, Agreed he's incredibly immobile. And was interesting watching him when he was young when that was not the case at all.
