I don't understand why McVay is so hard headed. He's deemed as this great coach but he holds too many players back.

At this point it's time for some of these guys to get their hands dirty and let them start learning on the job. Trial by fire if you will. Ferguson, Dolac and even Green could all be great additions to the lineup.

Higbee, Speights, and Forbes have all underwhelmed so far. It's time for fresh meat.

McVay has never trusted offensive rookie skill players. It seems like Ferguson was drafted to replace Higbee next season.

Saw Higbee on injured list....maybe this is the week for our 1st pick.

I agree with the others. Dolac- as I said before- would like to see him out there somehow, someway. The D has been pretty damn good against the run, so leaving it as is makes sense too. BUT- those stats don't lie. If speights is missing tackles (i did not know that), then sure- make him think hard about his position by mixing in his competition. Dolac could be a real hidden gem. You never know much by pre season stats. But that goes both ways.

Great article. I agree 100% with those changes. They need to be made.

Dolec and Green is the DC call. Mcvay doesn't overstep his DC, never had and I doubt he will change now.

Is Ferguson our 2023 version of Stetson Bennett?

I think his injury during training camp set him back a month or so.

Didn't he get past injury and play in a pre season game?

Yes, but he still missed a month of camp which is crucial for a rookie. I have high hopes for him but he doesn't need to be a detriment if he plays. He needs to understand his blocking assignments, routes, and be able to contribute. I would prefer him to get in a game we are winning to get the rust off and jitters out. Sooner or later Higbee will be hurt and we will need him.

I hear McVay talk about splitting the season up into quarters. My honest observation and opinion is he waits for certain players or even wrinkles to deploy later in the season. At the end of the year every year the Rams make a run and there always seems to be something or someone new after the bye week that gives other teams the blues. I truly believe Ferguson will be in heavy rotation by the playoffs. I actually think that’s was the plan with Blake last year until he broke his wrist.

Like Thursday....
It would not surprise me if he waited until after the bye to engage Ferg...unless Higbee is actually hurt. They only had 1-2 days of walkthroughs this week before the Thur game. I hope we see him sooner than later. I just don't want it to be forced.
