Jaire Alexander Now A Free Agent
Would be cheaper against the cap than Ramsey. Give him an incentive laden contract to protect against injury?
Jaire Alexander’s tenure in Green Bay has come to an end.
Alexander, a cornerback who has played for the Packers since they drafted him in the first round in 2018, is being released, according to multiple reports.
The Packers proposed a restructured contract that would have paid him less than the $16.15 million base salary he was due this season, and once Alexander turned that down, it was only a matter of time before he’d be released.
Alexander hadn’t been participating in the Packers’ voluntary workouts this offseason as he and the Packers considered whether they have a future together.
Once among the top cornerbacks in the NFL, Alexander has missed more games than he has played the last two years after dealing with a string of injuries.
The 28-year-old Alexander will now become an unrestricted free agent and will surely have some offers from teams that hope he can regain his previous form, and stay healthy.

He does have an extensive injury history. Nothing career ending but he misses games every season and is seen as not being durable.

Don't you find it odd that packers offered aging star 16+ million and Jaire balked at the offer? What team is going to pay more?

Re: Jaire Alexander Now A Free Agent
I honestly believe they think with his last 2 years of knee and shoulder injuries he is a huge risk at any price. If they did offer that which I don't believe they did they would want to keep him and not release him. Look at the trail it smells like they were hoping a trade partner would jump at the name and overlook the medical similar to Tre White. When a trade did not materialize the poker bluff was caught and GB's result is releasing him today. As I said in my thread and same with others here if possible work him out first get a clear medical picture and give him incentive laden contract forcing Alexanders hand to say if he feels he is healthy he will take it if not fully healthy he will demand a full guaranteed contract then we will know.
Other than both those two options maybe his agent is blowing s.oje to keep him happy making Jaire think he is still worthy of the big dollars. This will shake out quickly and some team is jumping on him.
As he pertains to Ramsey. I don't want to commit draft or heavy money capital to him. If he gets released and will play for 10m sure because he is healthier but he is older than Alexander and stats wise they are similar based on PFF but Alexanders recent sample size is hard to compare because he missed 16 of 34 games in the past 2 years.
