Why the Rams kept 4 tight ends

Post by Cornell29 »

Mcvay changed the offensive scheme yet again. Is this just a one game trend or is the 12 personnel going to be used 50 percent of the time throughout the year.

Rest of the year. It worked, and worked great. Having the TE more in play opens up just another threat for McVay and Staff. Higs, im a bit frustrated w though.

However........the only two tight ends any of us noticed on the field Sunday was Parkinson-(unfortunately), and Davis Allen.

I still am asking the question why he kept 4 tight ends?

Rotation
Agreed
And depth

If you need two tight ends on the field for more than 50 percent of the plays, the Rams need 4 tight ends

Rams rotated 3 tight ends yesterday Higbee, Allen and Park. Ferguson is depth until he is ready.

JMO Ferguson should not be depth and they need to go pedal to the metal in getting him ready. He has a skill set in the passing game that this team has not had at TE in a long time…………

I totally agree, but I look forward to just when the league thinks they have the Rams figured out adding him as a new wrinkle/threat right before the playoffs and beyond. On two occasions Sunday I saw Tutu, smith, mumfield. What a 3rd package for teams to have to prepare for. And we all saw Smith. Everyone will be fresh at this rate

No argument from me, I would at least make him number 2. Mcvay and company dont think he is ready. He got injured over the summer and it set him back, I guess.

I don't think McVay thinks he is ready yet.. especially his blocking. We will see him soon enough.. This isn't the first time he has held back a rookie.

duanevalle22 wrote: September 10th, 2025, 7:30 am The Ram TE's had a crappy game..... Two terrible holding calls and that ridiculous fumble. It would nice to have a consistent serviceable TE that doesn't get hurt all the time and doesn't makes bone head mistakes. Stafford needs a reliable TE, especially with our already depleted OL.
“ especially with our already depleted OL”

4 of the 5 OL starters are scheduled to start Sunday. How does that define depleted? You do pay attention to the rest of the league and their injuries? Never mind I already know you don’t……..

duanevalle22 wrote: September 10th, 2025, 7:55 am No I don't have time to pay attention to other teams injuries. But since the Rams OL was ranked worst after week 1, that is a very big concern, especially when you have one of the slowest / fragile QB's in the league. Two starting OL's with sprained ankles is not a good thing.
Then I suggest you do………

12 personnel is fine by me; whatever keeps Stafford upright and puts points on the board.
