Think the Jared Goof story has ended
Packers loaded. NFL has reset and teams have gotten better. Lions blew their golden chance last year. Lost both coordinators. Meat-head head coach. It’s done.

Re: Think the Jared Goof story has ended
Being that it’s the first game of the season, I can’t really tell yet… but I’m not sure if the Packers are that good or if the Lions are that bad.
Right now I’m thinking the Lions are better than today, and they’ll come around BUT the Packers are very good. Shoot, I hope we don’t have to travel to Lambo this Jan

Re: Think the Jared Goof story has ended
I think the Lions window is closing but Goff will still be in the league playing somewhere for at least the next decade. Look at Joe Flacco, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. I will add that I doubt he gets near a SB again unless it's as a back-up!

I don't! It's week 1and that team has two new coordinators. And they're still a younger team. They probably won't win their division. But they'll be in the playoffs again in the end.

Lame to refer to him as "Goof". He was a good Ram, lead the team to a SB, but was out-coached. Goff played with class, and departed with class.

Silly that some feel the need to denigrate players no longer here with silly nicknames. He is elsewhere, and I harbor no ill will. I think a part of his failures can laid at the feet of McVay, but it no longer matters. Far as I'm concerned he can lead the league in passing and set records every week, as long as when we face him he loses.

I'm in agreement on the condemnation of foolish 'ad hominem' name-calling, which has clearly become a societal issue... :? ;) :x

Re: Think the Jared Goof story has ended
It is funny, I was a die-hard Lions fan for 12 seasons. When Stafford left, I had finally had enough. I really thought I would cheer for them but I have done the complete opposite. I hope they lose every game. I want it to be clear who won the trade. I want Goff to fail and Stafford to win another SB. I guess I want them to lose because that is all they did when I was a fan. Probably sick logic.
After 12 years of misery, I just don't have confidence that they will ever win a SB. They are completely jinxed. I know I shouldn't feel that way but here I am. They may have missed their window of opportunity.

I think the bigger story is just how good in GB? their defense with Micah looked solid. Remember the Lions have 2 new starters on the OL. that is a big deal. Losing Ragnow was huge IMO

That's 100% correct... why I said the Lions won't win the division because I think Green Bay might be a serious problem.

Goff has gone on to be an extremely effective QB in Detroit. Great team around him? Sure, but in his own vacuum he's played great as well. It's as simple as that.

No, it sounds like you are a diehard Stafford fan lol.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a fan of just one player follow that player from team to team.
If Stafford joins the Cowboys will you become a Dallas fan?

Re: Think the Jared Goof story has ended
It was really a collision of different things. I have always been a huge college football fan. I did not grow up in a city with a pro football team so never had a true following. I liked Dallas when Herschel Walker was there. I pulled for Falcons but was never a true fan. Rankin Smiths (owner) was always a joke for Falcons fans. If Detroit would have at least competed I would probably have stayed a Lions fan. I started watching NFL during fantasy football so I was more of a fan of players than I was a team.
The Rams are the first NFL team where I ever visited a fan forum. Got excited about the team and the actual chance to win a SB. There is a lot to like about the Rams other than Stafford. That was not the case with Detroit.
Please no Dallas. That would be difficult. Can’t stand them. I would prefer Stafford to retire a Ram.

And wouldn't you know it, the guy he wanted over Goff immediately won us a SB... In your world, the right coach doesn't do that huh?duanevalle22 wrote: ↑September 10th, 2025, 10:30 amI agree,Ramsfan08ny wrote: ↑September 7th, 2025, 5:47 pm Lame to refer to him as "Goof". I think with the right head coach he could have been pretty special in LA. I thought McVay acted like the "Goof" on that one. What kind of head coach would publicly diminish a QB that was selected #1 and made it to the Super Bowl.... Ya Goff had some issues he needed to work out, but I really lost all my respect for McVay after that one. If I were a young QB, I would be hesitant about wanting to play for a coach like McVay.

It's the typical nit-pick a negative and ignore overall factors = agenda poster. In this specific case, yes McVay traded Goff in for a Super Bowl win (wins?). Pretty simple really...DelMar wrote: ↑September 10th, 2025, 12:13 pmMan, this poster has some crazy post.Rampager66 wrote: ↑September 10th, 2025, 11:20 am

To state that young QB’s should be hesitant to want to work/play for McVay is asinine. There is probably not one QB playing in college that wouldn’t want to be coached by McVay…..
Does my comment define me now as a McVay “ cork sniffer”? Man I hope it does………

yeah don't believe that for a second either. Yep that was the statement pretty much off the rails for me as well. You could actually argue McVay is more of a QB guru if anything.NorCal RF wrote: ↑September 10th, 2025, 12:31 pm To state that young QB’s should be hesitant to want to work/play for McVay is asinine. He didn’t hurt young Goff any after his nightmarish rookie year with Fisher. Turned that shit around fast. He just saw in Goff eventual limitations within that Rams current line-up, and moved toward the trade. Winning a Super Bowl trumps everything regardless.
Ok the vets…he certainly helped put Baker back on the fast track as a League’s winner. Stafford, well being a World Champ has its perks lol. I bet Jimmy G is 100% ready to roll if need be.
But even an inexperienced back-up on a relatively otherwise unimpressive offense looked as successful as he’s been in the League while under McVay (Wolford). It’s not like the offense was carrying Wolford in his few starts – kinda the opposite at that time (game ball). Credit to McVay to exploit strengths and instill confidence.
And again regarding that Goff situation, obviously McVay was young and still learning too I’d say. I thought yeah he appeared to make Goff somewhat of a scapegoat in the end, but no doubt there’s things behind the scenes as well (?). Goff bounced back, as I think he’d had enough overall success to remain confidant.
Has any QB not benefited from or regretted being coached by McVay? Pretty sure even a young Goff learned plenty and would say so.
Love to see McVay get his hands on the next Josh Allen. I have zero worries there.

Re: Think the Jared Goof story has ended
duane, duane, duane... you're too easy.
Please explain why Sean would be needing the "mental ability to coach a young QB in 2021" when he was too busy showing his "maturity' working with a 12 year vet and winning a SB on his 2nd trip to the big game after losing the 1st???
And BTW, he already showed he had the ability to coach up a Young QB when he made it to that SB he lost... with Goff!
You got nothing!

I think you may be right. It's amazing how teams falter when they lose coordinators. It really makes you wonder how the Rams have been able to keep it up after losing so many talented guys. Green Bay, Minnesota, Cincinatti, Jacksonville and Atlanta all have head coaches that were once part of the Rams in some capacity.SoCalRam78 wrote: ↑September 7th, 2025, 4:26 pm Packers loaded.
