When have the Rams truly dominated?

Post by bigklein »

The Rams just haven’t been consistent with playing four quarters, and they’ve certainly not been consistent in all three phases. Coaches’ fault? Players’ fault? A combination? Hopefully that will be different tonight. Looking back, I think that the Rams truly dominated in just a few games: Jacksonville, New Orleans, Tampa Bay, and Arizona. The other wins felt like there was meltdown potential or, in the case of Baltimore, that the Rams were lucky that Huntley hadn’t started. Even against Tennessee I recall nervousness about Cam Ward figuring things out. Too often it felt like Rams’ opponents could tap into a softness and turn things around, like Seattle and Philadelphia did.

I see the Atlanta and Arizona games as chances for the Rams to embrace what it feels like to be dominant and even nasty for four quarters and in all three phases. If that doesn’t become the standard before the playoffs, they’ll be one and done in two weeks.

We're not elite, for sure. We are a top-level team and can beat any team in the league but we certainly haven't had an elite season. I'm not sure if there is any real elite or dominant team in the league this year. I want to play in Philly and knock those fucks out of the playoffs. We're on the road and it's balls to the wall. This postseason could be fun.

I think our O is elite. Best in the league- up there with Seattle or Pats. The D has been drifting the wrong way. Looked very elite early on. Not so much now, and not 100% sure why. Teams have figured out how to play us? Was Lake that big a deal being out? Or have our guys regressed? I agree not looking like a SB team on all sides of the ball. But that can change again. Tonight is a big test, because Atlanta is not a bad team at all. Let's see if we can kick the crap out of them and get the defense back on track.

I agree with RAMFAN71-Our O-Line has been a big surprise this year, especially at the 2 tackle positions.

We are not consistent because our ST and Defense are not consistent. This is why we must take two solid defensive players in round 1 next year.

Maybe a leader at ILB late and the top CB available (or maybe two CB's) in round 1). We need to totally change the dynamics of our CB play next year which is why two young CB's may be the wisest decision.

Cant consistently dominate, despite having one of the best offenses in the NFL, when Special Teams is one of the worst and the D is mediocre at best, despite what the stats say.

Mcvay friends let him down. His friend Shula has 0 answers to fixing a D that lacks talent at CB and has a DL that can't get home on Sacks. He refuses to use more cover 1 and cover 0, which imo is a mistake.

Mcvay friend Chase has sucked for years now, but since Mcvay and him are close buddies, Mcvay allowed him to stick around and cost the Rams the 1st seed.

Mcvay, I know you like to have a good relationship with your staff, but everybody doesn't have to be one of your close buddies. If you do hire a close buddy, you can't hesitate to hold him accountable.

Not putting defense on Shula. Secondary corners lack talent. Omar Speights isn’t very good either. Rams need 3 new starters on defense next year. Losing lake has hurt too.

The fact we're even at this point is insane. He plays too nice. When I said it, someone got their feelings hurt. But it's true. He goes conservative every time we're ahead and it's cost us. No way in hell should you lose a fucking game after being 34-14.

You know, if I didnt know any better, this post right here above ^ does NOT sound like Rah-Rah type of poster me...🤷🏼‍♂️

So, can someone get Truth on the line and let him know, that Cornell here, Bulldawg and Rampager are NOT RAH RAH'ing this week.

BIG Difference between what some think is cheerleading and others just seeing the glass as half full imo...

And I might add they may say things in a enlightening way about our team, but its also extremely obvious they ALL call a spade a spade. They say it how it is, so when some goof ball negative nancy says we are all cheerleaders and will never say anything negative, why dont you go ahead and print and frame this post above. WE all have continually stated that we are pissed off that Sean kept Chase way TOOOOO LONG and that we also blame McVay and Shula for not getting at least some average DB's in the backfield...

Aint no rah-rah crap here. not up in here... NOT UP IN HERE!

Tampa was by far their best game. That’s why it would be advantageous for the Bucs to get that spot if the Rams get the 5

While I agree w this above to an extent, for me, I have to put some of this on Shula. Have to... He saw what we all saw and thought he could bandaid us into the playoffs I guess... whelp, he did bandaid us in, but this wasn't the time to drop a game... while we are trying to fugue things out, Niners and Hawks have hit the afterburners switch.

Shula had to see that the DB/Corners were more DIII college type guys and not really professional ball players at an NFL level. Lake has hurt us and that will help when hes back in, but one guy aint going to fix this mess in the D-backfield.

Rams on the road Vs their Division rivals this year scored 42 @ SF, 45 @ ARi and 37 @ SEA in the Rain for a total of 124 points or 41.3 PPG!
So much for HF or can't win on the road!

Excellent post - I agree with you on what are key elements of a team’s personality- and this comes from the HC. There have been several games where an aggressive/ put an opponent away action was needed and the pedal came off the gas. We have the O firepower to do this - but do not. We relied on a soft non aggressive D that could not hold a lead ( Seattle Game ) and quickly the game , that was under control, goes back into play. Sure hope tonite is taken seriously by McVay and results in the start of another win streak- impose an attitude and swagger in our play headed into the playoffs.

There's been games when Mcvay didn't keep his foot on the gas but I didn't see it that Seattle game that way. I seen Mcvay passing against Seattle, trying to keep the pressure on but Allen and Park kept dropping drive stick moving passes. Mump had a big drip late too. Allen and Park were horrible vs Seattle. The rookie was clearly the best tight end on the field vs Seattle.

It’s nuts that we are probably headed to Philly while Tampa, who is 7-9 and has lost 8 of their last 9 games are hosting a playoff game in the warmth of Florida.

If Bears lose to Lions and Eagles win, Eagles will play GB no matter what first round.
