Rams adding YET another TE...

Post by DelMar »

I think McVay is now going nuts w the 13 personal and this new look razzle dazzle greatest show on turf (part 2) offense.

Just added a 3rd rounder to the PS...

Former Vikings TE Nick Muse Joins Rams Practice Squad

The Rams four active tight ends have been getting better every week, and it’s so awesome seeing McVay pushing in this direction. There was a lot of hate for Parkinson especially last year. Davis Allen has been a consistent receiver and has thrown some incredible blocks in play action. Ferguson is explosive, and now Higbee isn’t overused and injured.

Maybe McVay is worried about running out of tight ends, like they did in 2021. Luckily Blanton and Hopkins came through . . . but then basically vaporized after the Super Bowl.

I’m a little surprised though because Redman on the practice squad was a stud in preseason. Maybe Muse is a better blocker; he also worked with O’Connell.

I was also hoping that Bowles would be brought back.

OK .. lacks explosiveness, but his short work is good, and good strength. Could be a solid blocker and a good emergency target is Staff is in trouble. Only 27, so he's still young enough to have some impact. Working in McV's new system might help him, and he has value as a blocker at second level according to his breakdown. Like the move overall, especially given the new emphasis on 13 personnel and Tyler's injury history

To me, amazing how McVay has evolved in the past decade of being the Rams coach. TE's were almost non existent in his schemes years back, then through the years, hes like... hey, this might work a bit more... then this year hit and its like 'holy crap'... TE central.

We have tapped into a whole new Offense in ways... not only do have two good backs, star WR's, but we can take the average TE's and make them into stars as well. It's amazing what we are witnessing.

This offense is almost impossible to stop now. Defenses have no idea what to do, as its almost like the West Coast Offense was when the 49ers opened that up in the 80s... or the greatest show on turf... NO Defense can crack the code... and its not like 12 or 13 personal is a new idea, but we have def taken this to a whole new level.

Rams now run 3 tight ends on around 45 pct of the plays

Rams only have 4 tight ends, so that means they have just 1 tight end backing 3 tight ends.

For example when the rams played alot of 11 personnel (3 wrs on the field are once) the rams had at least 5 on the roster and 1 on the PS.

Exactly, we found something that is working and no one can stop this machine... just like in the business world, when you have division that is killing it, you invest more more into that group. If you have a TOP sales rep, you give them higher bonuses and pay them more.. you invest in what is working...

and we are now.... the TE team of the league.

Best part is, when Defenses finally figure out how to stop this 12/13 personal, we have Puka, Adams, KW, etc... Think about it.. you are the Seahawks, what are you studying all week? How to stop the Rams TE, contain KW and still keep on Adams and Puka... so, plan is you come in and harass Stafford right? You put more dudes on our TE sets, right? McVay then says, ok... lets go back out to Puka and Adams... then, KW and Corum to boot... It's mind boggling the things we can do now. Mcvay has hit a new level and thanks goodness, we have a QB smart/good enough to do it.

This is a site to see right now... special time to be a Rams fan

GO RAMS.

Can you imagine how good this team can rally be whenever he figures the same thing out on defense with linebackers and CB's? Until Landman we have had nothing but a bunch of average free agent linebackers. If we ever found a stud MLB this team would be at a different level. The same can be said about CB's. If we can draft a shutdown corner (who isn't making Jalen Ramsey money) that would take this defense a long way.

Three TEs are just a stepping stone; next stop, 14 and 15 personnel.

I don't know why they have him listed as a 3rd round pick? Just a typo error I guess..Nick went to the Vikings at 227 in round 7 in 2022. McVay’s hidden love for the TE position is finally coming to the surface as a Ram coach. Go 13 personnel..Go Rams!

And it wasn’t that long ago, what a few games back and the last season or so, that many questioned why Higbee, Allen, n Parkinson were still on the team…….

Maybe someday some will just say we got one of the best HC and I’m just going to trust him with the personnel……..

It's amazing the McVay continues to improve. He really stopped using the TE position as something of a weapon- rather than a blocker recently. Only to do an about face and go in strong and confuse the f out of our opponents. He's the best. I still think that the Puka injury was a Godsend...that's when the O opened up. Maybe he felt inspired to try the 13 more. It's great to see our team with a whole new and VASTLY improved look on offense. This game is gonna be HUGE- as the west is on the line.

I remember those threads lol

Why 4 tight ends?
Why did the rams draft a tight end in the 2nd round when they already have Allen, Higbee and Park?
Will Rams trade Higbee?
Will Rams trade Park?
Why doesn't Mcvay know how to use tight ends?
Why are the rams keeping 4 tight ends on the 53?

Mcvay knew what he was doing. He was setting the foundation for this new scheme of his.

Good post. I've never been down on Parkinson either. Davis Allen has become a GREAT blocker. Just watch the SF game again. I also liked Redman in preseason but he might be too green for a Super Bowl run. I see Redman on this team next year because we have free agents everywhere and might not be able to afford Higbee and Parkinson. Gotta pay Lake and Landman then eventually Puka and all our defenders.
